Reminder: Here’s Mercer Fraser’s Plan for Highway 36 Realignment During Fourth of July Week

This is a press release from Mercer Fraser:

Just another reminder going into the weekend about the working hours during the week of Fourth of July. Our plan is to work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday during the week of the Fourth of July. The hours will be Monday 8am-8pm, Tuesday 6am-12pm, Thursday 6am-8pm and Friday 6am-3pm during this week. Times before 8am or after 5pm will be flagging with 30-min delays. The road will be open from Tuesday 12pm thru Thursday morning 6am to accommodate the traveling public for the holiday. Hope this helps the travelers get to their destinations for the holiday week. Also attached is the general flyer for the project for anyone who might have forgot the schedule or anyone new included in this update. Let me know if you have any questions and/or comments.HWY 36 Flyer

I’ve had just about enough of Mercer Fraser. Past time for them to pull up stakes and get out of Humboldt County…

Why? You object to them fixing the road?

I “object” to what they do to degrade our rivers and aquatic species, just to fix the roads. All Mercer Fraser in-stream gravel extraction and processing operations in Humboldt County are regulated by what’s called CHERT (County of Humboldt Extraction Review Team), maybe you’ve heard of them?. They have final say over state and federal agencies.

CHERT is comprised of 4 individual contractors, who are appointed and serving at the pleasure of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors.

CHERT is not a county or state agency.

CHERT is not a Company, Firm or Business.

CHERT does not notify the public or accept public comments on its final decisions concerning in-stream gravel extraction amounts or proscriptions’.

CHERT members are paid directly and individually by each mining operator for direct services rendered.

CHERT members are paid directly, individually and equally between the mining operators for fixed in-direct service rendered.

CHERT program expenses are shared and paid equally between the mining operators, directly and individually to each CHERT member.

CHERT represents and serves as an agent, in the best interest of the gravel mining operators, not the public for in-stream gravel extraction in Humboldt County.

So YES, I object!
