A brush fire started in a yard on Gopher Lane in Samoa before 5:15 p.m today. The fire was about 30 feet by 40 feet in size, according to scanner traffic.

The reader who sent the photos described the nearby building as an “old ranch house boarded up.” The reader said there appeared to be burnt grass at the end of the driveway to the house from another recent fire.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is at the scene investigating and said that the fire appeared to be “suspicious” in nature.
