Southbound Traffic on 101 Crawling After Four Vehicle Accident

Four vehicles collided at approximately 5:13 p.m. on Hwy 101 at the Eureka Slough Bridge.  Traffic has been crawling ever since.

“Traffic is backed up all the way to Jacobs Avenue, according to Stormy Taylor, our reporter.

This is a no injury accident, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.

UPDATE 5:40 p.m.: As of 5:40 p.m. the vehicles are being pushed off the road and traffic should resume normal speeds soon.

Yet another accident where the most likely cause was not paying attention to the road, or being too impaired to do so…

Traffic slows down across the bridge… and if it backs up too far
oncoming drivers will rear end the car in front.

Caltrans should reduce the speed limit to 40 or so… about 1/4 mile up from the bridge,
or maybe have flashing signs when the traffic builds up over the bridge.

Big thing is congestion between the V street intersection… and the Samoa intersection.
Traffic builds up there pretty solid at ‘rush hour’. I dunno what to do about that.

I was visiting my daughter last year in eureka I couldn’t believed the drivers are crazy, it’s not too many cars unlike southern California where I live, but people in eureka they drive like crazy.
