I was going to say the same thing. in my search for the perfect time to approach winco I found that around 5pm you can spot individual on and/or previously on the Humboldt’s Most Wanted poster and at noon it can be full of nice older people but difficult to navigate the isles. I am still searching.

Don’t post if you cannot take a response.
Many food stamp recipients are seniors and working people.

A government big enough to give is big enough to take away.

The state acts like everybody is dependent on them. I have never had one of these cards, what is it for ? Golden State Advantage?? What does that mean? You don’t have to work if you don’t want to?

Just got home from Safeway in McK, several people, with kids, were complaining, loudly, about the shut down coming this weekend. They were irate they would not be able to buy diapers or milk during that time. Gee, here’s a thought, buy them NOW. Not like you don’t know your kids need diapers and milk.

Was at a gas station in SF,trying to get cashback for the weed store.
They only offered cashback on EBT cards! And of course the clowns behind me got their $100 and were in the weed store too

You can get cash from EBT? If so, that should be stopped.

It depends on what form of Public Assistance you get, but yes many with EBT cards can’t get cash back.

Some folks get welfare on the EBT cards, not everyone does. And you can not redeem food credits for cash just food.

That is simply not true, actually it seems the state is going so far as to where some counties are actually installing ATMs that do not charge a fee when you get cash back from EBT cards. Apparently just in Alameda County alone over $920,000 was paid as fees to ATM machines for withdrawing Federal benefits from EBT cards. I would assume this is for cash back, as ATMs don’t generally sell merchandise?

This website even go as far as to claim that spending $5 worth of government assistance boost the local economy by $9, not exactly sure how that math works out? last time I checked if you paid one bill with a credit card you’re still going into debt…

This website even gives you a real-time map where you can find ATMs that won’t charge you to get cash withdrawals off your EBT card.
