Humboldt County Fair Association Postponing Motorcycle Race Event

Press release from the County of Humboldt:
Humboldt County Seal 2017

The Humboldt County Fair Association is postponing a July 14, 2018 flat-track motorcycle race event until the summer of 2019.  The fair association is currently working through Humboldt County’s Conditional Use Permit process to hold special events at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds located in Ferndale. The permit process includes abiding by the California Environmental Quality Act, known as CEQA.

“The work the fair association puts into special events is tremendous and these events, in addition to the annual fair, are a great asset to our community and provide family-friendly entertainment for all county residents to enjoy,” said Second District Supervisor Estelle Fennell.

The postponement of the flat-track race will not affect the Humboldt County Fair which will be held August 16-26, 2018.  The county is the owner of the fairgrounds and contracts with the fair association to operate and run the county fair and fairgrounds.  If you have questions, please contact the fair association at 707-786-9511.

Heaven forbid we have a sport for families, not to mention a major race, drawing hundreds of racers from out of the area to pump $ into our local economy!

I agree meme It is a shame but in today’s world the fun of many is often controlled by people that don’t want others to have a good time doing what they like. Last years event went off well and one of the things I heard people say was I hope this race comes to Ferndale again. After many years involved in motorcycling, I have seen communities that were at first opposed to motorcycle racing come to see the value to the local area from such events, and want them to continue. At a time when all our local economies are hurting and Humboldt wants to attract out of town people and the money spent at local restaurants, hotels, motels etc it makes me wonder what they are thinking.Lots of kids and adults will miss this race and i think I some of the people opposed came to the races and saw the fun the kid s have here maybe it would of been different

It is just a handful of people that are wrecking it for the community. They are selfish and hateful people that are miserable and unhappy. It’s too bad their ears are so tender. They do not care about the community. They only care about their Agenda, i.e. hurt the HCF and the community.
