Car Fire by the Humboldt County Library in Eureka

At approximately 7:15 p.m., a vehicle caught on fire near the Humboldt County Library. Photographer Mark McKenna captured these images except the last which is by Stormy Taylor.

Bystanders reported hearing tires popping. It sounded like explosions.

Thanks HACHR you’re squirrels have turned this entire area into a crap fest. Can’t even walk down the street anymore

That vehicle was abandoned between those two buildings in that alley. The property is under abatement order from city code enforcement. The vehicle was drug out onto the street and was being used by homeless. That alley was known as shoot up gallery by the druggies.

I went to the library the other day and that car was full of homeless doing something there with more visiting it for a few minutes then leaving. I just shook my head at the blatant drug dealing, didn’t realize it was abandoned..
