Hum Co Dems Urge Support for Woman Imprisoned by ICE

Claudia Portillo

Press release from the Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee:

The Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee (HCDCC) voted to donate $500 to the cause of Claudia Portillo. HCDCC Associate member Billy Cook was able to gather further cash donations in the amount of $160 and members also made several hundred dollars in donations to Claudia’s GoFundMe.

Claudia Portillo has been missing from her family for seven months. During a routine check-in appointment in November 2017, [I]mmigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents unexpectedly detained Ms. Portillo and imprisoned her 555 miles away from her four daughters in the privately owned Mesa Verde ICE Processing Facility in Bakersfield, CA. We encourage you to learn more about Claudia’s story online.

As members of the Humboldt County community we want Claudia Portillo back home with her family and community where she belongs. After waiting seven months for any good news, Claudia’s family was just given seven days to raise funds to travel to her bond hearing this Monday, June 18th, and to pay for her bond. We encourage the community members of Humboldt County to help and support Claudia’s cause. You can donate at: https://www.gofundme.com/humboldt-supports-claudia-portillo

What was the “supervision order” to report to immigration annually about? If this was in 2011, it must have been about an order for removal back then.

It was probably an order to report every year. And I think she did.

This order is made when a deportation order has been made. But the person did not leave. In this case in 2011. The purpose of this is to give time to the reported to either appeal or get papers ready to travel to their home country.

If I know nothing, and you do then offer information. If all you can offer is insult, pretty much over nothing as it was just a repetition of the definition of an Order for Supervision, you either know nothing yourself and are just nasty or know only negative things. In any case possible, an answer of some sort has been provided and it doesn’t reflect well on you.

To put it so you understand, it is not all about you. Thank goodness as that would be like being trapped in a toddler schoolyard spat where temper tantrums are what passes for discussion.

I am quite perplexed that Humboldt County, a well documented democrat county filled with bleeding heart liberals have only managed to cough up less than a thousand dollars to help “bring this family back together”. Where are the multi-millionaires, Pelosi, Brown, Newsom and the list goes on. Reach out to them. They are the ones leading the state of California with there immigration agenda’s. Where is Arcata the sanctuary city that embraces breaking the law? Oh that’s right they are being sued for big bucks so forget any stipend on their end. And to an earlier comment, Trump did not create the immigration laws that ICE is enforcing.

The Order of Supervision is issued when a person claims a humanitarian reason to stay in the country after a deportation order. So far the Federal government seems to have been pretty relaxed at it.

But I wonder why she did not request further accommodation in the 7 years since the deportation order in 2011.

Ellicott’s Commentary for English Readers
(31) And the second is like, namely, this . . .–Better, And the second is this. The better MSS. omit “like.”

Pulpit Commentary
Verse 31. – Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. God is to be loved above everything – above all angels, or men, or any created thing. But after God, amongst created things, our neighbor is above all to be loved. And we are to extend to our neighbor that kind of love with which we love ourselves. Our love of ourselves is not a frigid love, but a sincere and ardent love. In like manner we should love our neighbour, and desire for him all those good things both for the body and for the soul that we desire for ourselves. This is what our Lord himself teaches us. “All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, even so do unto them.” There is none other commandment greater than these. St. Matthew (Matthew 22:40) says, “On these two commandments hang the whole Law and the prophets.” There is no commandment greater than these, because all the precepts of the Divine Law are included in them. So that our Lord here teaches us that we ought continually to have these two precepts in our minds and before our eyes, and direct all our thoughts and words and actions by them, and regulate our whole life according to them.
Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible
And the second is like,…. “Unto it”, as in Matthew 22:39 and so it is read here in two ancient copies of Beza’s, and in the Vulgate Latin, Syriac, Arabic, Persic, and Ethiopic versions;

namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. This commandment stands in Leviticus 19:18 and respects not an Israelite only, or one of the same religion with a man’s self, or his intimate friend and acquaintance, or one that lives in the same neighbourhood; but any man whatever, to whom affection should be shown, and good should be done to him, and for him, as a man would have done to and for himself; as much as lies in his power, both in things temporal and spiritual; see the note on Matthew 22:39.

There is none other commandment greater than these; in the whole law, moral or ceremonial; not the sabbath, nor circumcision, nor the phylacteries, nor the fringes on the borders of the garments, nor any other.
Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary
31. And the second is like—”unto it” (Mt 22:39); as demanding the same affection, and only the extension of it, in its proper measure, to the creatures of Him whom we thus love—our brethren in the participation of the same nature, and neighbors, as connected with us by ties that render each dependent upon and necessary to the other.

Thou shall love thy neighbour as thyself—Now, as we are not to love ourselves supremely, this is virtually a command, in the first place, not to love our neighbor with all our heart and soul and mind and strength. And thus it is a condemnation of the idolatry of the creature. Our supreme and uttermost affection is to be reserved for God. But as sincerely as ourselves we are to love all mankind, and with the same readiness to do and suffer for them as we should reasonably desire them to show to us. The golden rule (Mt 7:12) is here our best interpreter of the nature and extent of these claims.

There is none other commandment greater than these—or, as in Mt 22:40, “On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (see on [1485]Mt 5:17). It is as if He had said, “This is all Scripture in a nutshell; the whole law of human duty in a portable, pocket form.” Indeed, it is so simple that a child may understand it, so brief that all may remember it, so comprehensive as to embrace all possible cases. And from its very nature it is unchangeable. It is inconceivable that God should require from his rational creatures anything less, or in substance anything else, under any dispensation, in any world, at any period throughout eternal duration. He cannot but claim this—all this—alike in heaven, in earth, and in hell! And this incomparable summary of the divine law belonged to the Jewish religion! As it shines in its own self-evidencing splendor, so it reveals its own true source. The religion from which the world has received it could be none other than a God-given religion!
Matthew Henry Commentary
12:28-34 Those who sincerely desire to be taught their duty, Christ will guide in judgment, and teach his way. He tells the scribe that the great commandment, which indeed includes all, is, that of loving God with all our hearts. Wherever this is the ruling principle in the soul, there is a disposition to every other duty. Loving God with all our heart, will engage us to every thing by which he will be pleased. The sacrifices only represented the atonements for men’s transgressions of the moral law; they were of no power except as they expressed repentance and faith in the promised Saviour, and as they led to moral obedience. And because we have not thus loved God and man, but the very reverse, therefore we are condemned sinners; we need repentance, and we need mercy. Christ approved what the scribe said, and encouraged him. He stood fair for further advance; for this knowledge of the law leads to conviction of sin, to repentance, to discovery of our need of mercy, and understanding the way of justification by Christ.

Romans 13. All of it. I only bring it up because you supplied a long list of Biblical quotes not to the point. If any law breaker is arrested and punished according to the law, that is not “hating” them. Nor is it a violation of the Golden Rule as that does not say that “There are no consequences.” However clearly Romans covers the whole idea of a sanctuary state against the laws of the country. A lot of people are fond of quoting the piece on those without sin casting the first stone. However they never mention the final part where Jesus says “Go and sin no more.”

It’s against the law to seize the children of people seeking asylum, which is no crime. It’s against the law to size the children of someone accused of committing a non-violent misdemeanor, like crossing the border. This new policy (not law) of seizing accompanied minors violates the highest laws of our land. This may illuminate for you why people are getting fired up about this. They don’t like people breaking the law.

It is an ugly situation caused by the huge influx of people who think the law doesn’t apply to them. Separating families is not good. It certainly is only a matter of time until a really ugly incident happens. It’s a bad but understandable policy.

For decades illegal immigrant children have been used to act as a wedge to get adults exempted from following the law. First cries go up about releasing children. Then the released children need their parents so, under the policy to keep families together, the parents are released under orders to show up for a hearing. Then they failed to show up for hearings, no one knows where they are and that’s the end until they fall afoul of the law and are picked up, if that ever happens. All immigration laws are treated as one big joke. Like this very case.

There is no solution that will be acceptable when immigration advocates want no limits at all. Every attempt to enforce any law is met with dramatic screams of outrage and hurled abuse. So, while I hope for a reasoned and measured policy, you apparent will never find anything acceptable except open boarders into, but not out of, of the US.

Which is why people are fed up with the extortion of immigration advocates. And tired of the constant melodrama they insist on. While I may have sympathy for the children caught between the law and those trying to break enforcement of the law both inside and outside of the country, I have none for commenters misusing such sympathy on such a grand scale.

It’s against the law to endanger the lives of children by dragging them across the water barren coyote infested desert, knowing the odds of the children being raped, murdered, stolen, and tortured are extremely high. The willing abandonment of children, by facing imminent arrest for not filling out the proper paperwork, is also child endangerment. It’s also against the law to aide others in breaking the law. Her children will face deportation for being undocumented, all because she allegedly failed to take the proper steps to protect their future. Most of all, our politicians are to blame for enticing them to come here without first fixing the laws that would turn their dreams into reality.
Fix it.

Ask, Seek, Knock
Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+7%3A7&version=NIV

Layman’s terms:
Good fences makes good neighbors.
Use the doorbell please.
No solicitors (or criminals) welcome.

Even Jesus won’t enter a residence without first knocking. He respects respect.

The seeds are caught throughout our lives.
When we say maybe later gator in our youth, Jesus will knock on our heart’s door at unexpected date later.

Ask (is it possible?)
Seek (How is it possible?)
Knock (It’s possible!)

No, Sessions responded using the Bible to the illegal immigration advocates who keep trying to push their agenda through cherry picking quotes from the Bible. As usual, this kind of irrationality finds favor among those who have no principles except winning for themselves is everything and the hell with everyone else.

These advocates can’t cite law to support their demands so they go to trying to guilt everyone who has a different opinion into silence. As one of them so succinctly put it above, they want everyone but themselves to “shut up.”

I believe that the issue is more complex. We don’t don’t know the details of how she came to be picked up when it lead to the deportation order in 2011. A judge recently refused to stay the order and we don’t know what happened there either. So we can not whether there is a good reason for not staying the deportation order.

But if a person truly has been a good citizen, having been brought in a a young minor, other than obviously having ignored the immigration laws, I would want to give that person priority in getting legally admitted over a new arrival. But we just don’t know. It is suspiciously quiet about that.

But most of all I would like to see laws respected by both our own citizens and immigants. So far they have treated immigration laws as a joke and, when caught up in the official machine, blamed the US for having laws at all.

The establishment has done an incredible job teaching people to be ignorant, live in fear, with misinformation and to hate some suggested other. However, you have to be an incompetent moron to buy it. We are one human family, no one is illegal. Thought exercise for the haters here- What other species draws borders, erects walls, or calls a mother who wishes to be near their offspring illegal? None. Humans have to be the dumbest species on the planet to condone such violence inhumanity. The future, like tomorrow, will be comprised of NO BORDERS, NO NATIONS, AND NO DEPORTATIONS. I cannot believe this disgusting abuse of a mother of 4 happened in our own backyards. I am ashamed to live in a county that has allowed this to happen to her, her husband and their children. Sanctuary anyone? We have your back and will be there Monday to support you dear sister! This never should have happened.

I hate to pop your bubble but many animals are “territorial” both in the wild and domesticated… there is even a pecking order in the barn yard of mixed breed chickens and on the farm at large. The pigs will eat the chicks, the horses will kick the ponies, the farmer may even have a favorite dog. Gold finches fly their territories. Male bird sing to define territories and will run off interlopers. Herd of large land animals are not only herd base but territory. Even ‘solitary’ animals have territories (cougars). Marine animals also have territories (some small, some large).

You have to get a tighter argument or a different analogy. Not picking on your heartfelt need to express yourself but pointing out a flaw in the logic of your argument. Oh! and a great way to put off people and make sure they won’t support your cause is to do the shaming, belittling and name calling antics. It pushes people away, not draw them near. So if you really want to do some good, think about those points. Don’t believe me, hit some books about basic psychology or motivational speaking… YOU have to get rid of your hate first. Its there whether you want to admit it or not. Get that hate and anger out of YOUR heart and you are on a great start to the path of doing good. Hate does not overcome hate.

All species. Except they don’t have laws. They just drive off or kill invaders. Or are driven off or killed themselves. And it is the most acute within the species, where the fight for resources is survival itself.

So many of the worst haters hurl that insult at everyone in their way. It must be some kind of deep seated emotional need. Like all bullies. Full of threats, bluster and abuse.
