There was a vehicle on fire at alderpoint and 36 in the pullout west of the bridge a couple weeks ago.
Lighting vehicles on fire is a popular passtime out there…
Especially if they “Sit too long”!!!
They might give you 1 night. Then it’s siphon gas, steal everything and maybe bust a window. Second night, steal battery, any engine or car part including wheels and smash all windows. Third night, torch it.
The car sitting past Fisher Road on 36 has been there for about 2 weeks. Windows busted out and trunk pried open. It will be on fire any day. Can’t figure why they don’t tow these vehicles before they become a hazard and mess to clean up; not even mentioning the eye sore for the community.
It’s easy money after they are burned. They can take them straight to scrap the metal
This has been happening on Briceland road. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out who is doing it. How much of this do we tolerate? Fire season is here! The county has completely ignored this ongoing problem. There are used car dealerships that could take some of the vehicles.
In one night several weeks ago, three abandoned cars were torched, one on Ettersburg road, one on Briceland Road, and the one at the pullout just N. of Garberville. The sheriff’s office said several of those were in the abatement process, but that the process is slow. Within a day or so, at least two of the burnt out hulks were removed, as well as an unburnt truck that had been beside Briceland Road since last fall. Bureaucracy moves slowly, except when it doesn’t. Some of that Measure Z tax or legalization money should buy a county tow truck, as one of the complaints is that the local haulers don’t like to tie up their time hauling for the county. Just where is all that new money coming into the county going?
I wonder how many other counties in California just let abandoned vehicles rot on the side of the road for months on end ? I’m sick of this shit .
Humboldt county uses the “grow money” to harrass & prosecute & obstruct GROWERS.
It’s awfully dry out to be lighting (c)arson fires.
It is the same in Trinity County. Any abandoned car goes thru the same process of windows smashed , tires taken, etc., then torched. If we call CHP , they tell us if it is not in the road way they will do nothing, so we push the cars into the roadway and call again. During Fire season it is very stressful .
