This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

HCSO Humboldt County Sheriff's OfficeAre you wanting to add an animal friend to your family but haven’t been able to make it to the shelter during the week? Join the Humboldt County Animal Shelter at a special Saturday adoption event.

On Saturday, May 12, from noon to 4 p.m., join the shelter for the Wags and Whiskers Adoption Event. At this event, the public will have a chance to meet and play with all of our adoptable pets. Persons wishing to adopt and take home an animal from the event must have a pre-approved application on file at the shelter. You do not have to specify which animal you would like to adopt at the time of the application. Download an adoption application online at https://humboldtgov.org/377/Animal-Control-Division. Return your completed application to the shelter in person or via email to [email protected].

This event is being sponsored in part by Freshwater Girl Scout Troop 90033. The troop will be providing special surprises for adopters that day.

The animal shelter’s currently available adoptable pets are listed online and updated daily at petharbor.com and petfinder.com. The Humboldt County Animal Shelter is located at 980 Lycoming Ave in McKinleyville. The shelter’s normal operating hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursdays from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

It’s good that they are trying, but folks that “haven’t been able to make it to the shelter during the week” might not have time for a pet.
Still, almost any home is better than the alternative. Good luck.
