Most Farmer’s Markets accept EBT cards and WIC coupons.

Offered is an EBT “Market Match” program that doubles the spending power.

Each market has an EBT machine, like a debit or credit card processor, and an EBT/CalFresh recipient may use their benefits by simply swiping their card, indicate how much they want to take out, and receive tokens to spend at the market. This doubles the amount of tokens a customer can spend at the market. For example, if a customer spends $15 in EBT funds, they’re given an extra $15 ($30 total) in market tokens to spend on fruits and vegetables. Half of which must be fruits and veggies.

Most markets cap the match at $10.00 or $15.00, but some offer more up to $20. and $30.00. This amount may change after July 1st with the new budget.

I’ve never shopped at the local farmers markets. I’ve always just purchased my produce from local grocery stores. But now that all the local mom and pop grocery stores have been bought up … I think this yr I’m gonna make time to start shopping the farmers markets.

You should. There a few families down in here in sohum that have been doing more than just growing pot and it is important to support them too. It ain’t all about the weed! Maybe there will be more local food producers instead a few there are now.. besides the big ag down at the park that looks like big develolpment happening with lots of plastic and stuff.
