Crosswalks are much needed all along the one O one, or fence it off like other states do for animals

There are bridges and underpasses to use for crossing right in that area. One should not be trying to cross the 101 in any other spot than one of those.

There are fences all along 101 once you leave town. Crosswalks on a freeway? Really. Can’t cure stupid.

Freeways are closed to pedestrians for exactly this reason.

[eit]Pedestrians are not supposed to be on a freeway. Why would you want traffic traveling 65mph stopping in traffic to allow a pedestrian to cross. How many rearend collisions would there be.

So many accidents, several fatal, between the Miranda exit and the Salmon Creek exit.. Many (not this one) the result of drivers falling asleep..

Its starting to be tourist season. More people driving on unfamiliar roads, not fantastic weather. Lots of people aren’t good at driving in the rain, especially on curvy roads.

This, however, was not the driver’s fault.

Yes. That sounds to be the same area where the girls died (and the woman driving the other car was seriously injured. I have heard no recent word on her condition).

I almost hate to say it, but I’m naturally shy of pedestrians on the freeway. Several years ago, I had a guy jump out at me on 101 just past the Herrick Ave on-ramp; a semi about three vehicles behind me hit him. To this day I think it was intentional, a suicide. I hope that’s not the case here.

Condolences to the family of the deceased and my sympathies to the driver of the big rig. I’m sure she or he would’ve avoided this accident if at all possible.

At 5am, I’m pretty sure this was a suicide, unless the person was severely disoriented, blind, or a child.

Drove by about 6:30 it was a gruesome site even though the body was covered with a tarp very disturbing I think I’ll think twice about looking at accidents in the future

No word on a pedestrian hit on 101 just north of Willits.Must of been last Thursday/friday. You can see the orange paint body mark in the middle of the road. Be safe out there people.

Interesting that the traffic is usually light there, it’s not like rush hour traffic or anything and it’s a pretty long straight roadway also and these two managed to collide? I’m trying to understand how could a pedestrian not hear or feel a semi roaring down the road and avoid it?

It’s 9:50 AM and my husband just called from the café in Miranda. Apparently, they are still detouring traffic on to the Avenue. He said drivers are going as though it’s still freeway. HEY DRIVERS, there is a high school right on the Avenue. School is in session. PLEASE, PLEASE slow down. We really don’t need another vehicle/pedestrian accident, particularly if it’s a student. I may no be the mother of a student any more, but I know several as well as their family. I rally don’t want to have to go to a funeral. SLOW DOWN!!!!!!

PLEASE people! If anyone wants to visit the little memorial for the girls that died, from what I understand, it is next to Maple Hills Street, which runs N/S just next to 101, and just north of the Miranda off ramp.
If you want to go to the accident site to pay your respects….. Go, park, stop there (off the freeway!) SAFELY!

There are signs all over the 101 that say “PEDESTRIANS PROHIBITED” Please stay off the highway. Vehicles going 55-75 and pedestrians in an area not made to accomodate pedestrians dont mix. And tractor trailer trucks cant just stop like other vehicles. Stay off the highway. I figured there must have been another accident. I live on the avenue and we never get this much traffic unless theres construction or a wreck. Poor soul.
