City of Eureka, Humboldt Trail Council Offering Volunteer Opportunities on Waterfront Trail

This is a press release from the City of Eureka:

The City of Eureka and Humboldt Trails Council have shown a commitment to supporting trail facilities within the City of Eureka. We have partnered since 2013 on the Hikshari’ Volunteer Trail Stewards’ Program. The organized support of these volunteers who enjoy trail facilities has provided immense support with associated maintenance. The City recently completed the remaining phases of the Waterfront Trail and has worked with the Humboldt Trail Council to offer more volunteer opportunities. We are happy to announce the establishment of two new Volunteer Trail Stewards’ Programs.

From Del Norte to C Street along the Waterfront Trail, periodic volunteer efforts are being coordinated throughout each month. If interested in participating, please call Tom at (707)502-4766. Volunteers meet at the Wharfinger Building, 1 Marina Way, Eureka CA.

From the Adorni Center to Tydd Street, monthly volunteer efforts are being coordinated on the third Saturday of each month. Saturday April 21st will be the first day of the new program. If interested in participating, please contact Dennis at [email protected]. Volunteers meet at the entrance to the Blue Ox, 1 X Street, Eureka CA.

All volunteers will need to fill out Humboldt Trails Council paperwork and will be provided personal protective equipment, tools and any necessary training. Please bring water. Any relevant updates for both of these programs will be posted at www.ci.eureka.ca.gov or www.humtrails.org/vts.
