Humboldt Redwoods Interpretive Association Hosting Earth Day Cleanup at Usal Beach Campground
This is a press release from the Humboldt Redwoods Interpretive Association:
Hello Usal Family and Friends,
We are planning Earth Day at Usal Beach Campground– 10 AM to 3 PM Saturday April 21st. We have a number of projects we’d like to work on, small and large, easy and hard, detail focused and casual. Everybody is invited for lunch. . . even if you just stop by and pick up a garbage bag to take with you out to the beach.
We also need a couple of volunteers to help with “check-in” at the Shady Dell meadow, serve lunch and keep the communication going between the various work crews. If you want to help with these tasks, please contact us.
Tasks:
Trash pick up and one trash pit to clean out.
Road ditch to clean out.
Invasive Weeds-
· Cut Ivy
· Cut Himalayan Blackberry
· Cut and Bag Pampas Grass Seed Heads
Clean out Campfire Rings.
Clean Outhouses.
Post Outhouse Maps.
Observe wildlife including Steelhead in Creeks.
If you have a favorite hand tool—gloves, pruners, a garden shovel—please bring it.
If you think you’ll be coming, let us know.
