Herrick Exit Temporarily Closed This Morning as CHP/Sheriff’s Deputies Confront Occupants of Stolen Vehicle

The exit from southbound Hwy 101 to Herrick Avenue just south of Eureka was closed about 8:20 a.m. as California Highway Patrol officers backed by Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies confronted occupants of a stolen vehicle.

Two people are occupying the vehicle and as of 8:52 a.m. the California Highway Patrol spokesperson said the situation was still ongoing, however, the exit was now open.

It seems to me the crime rate has climbed even higher. Since our new police cheif has taken over the raynes of the EPD.Need a big heroin meth bust .Ring leaders this would diffently raise Humboldt countys Law Abiding Citizen taxpayers moral.

The Herrick Park and Ride is county jurisdiction which is why CHP and Sheriff’s Office were involved (though EPD responded to assist first).

We have had several recent large heroin busts (pound-level seizures).

Right on chief Watson keep up the good work !! To solve the major crime problems facing every city you need to get rid of the drugs then the druggies will follow.
