Man Stabs Hoby’s Market With Knife

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to  Hoby’s Market in Scotia. According to Samantha Karges, they received “a report of an unwanted male subject with a pocket knife, yelling at customers and stabbing the building.”

A Rio Dell Police officer reached the scene first and detained Ernest Allen Choate, age 46, until deputies could arrive. Karges reported, “We then took Choate into custody for two misdemeanors: disorderly conduct under the influence and violation of probation.”
