Cameron Jared JohnsonOn March 11, 2018, at about 9 p.m., a correctional deputy working in the maximum-security unit of the Humboldt County Correctional Facility was assaulted by a male inmate during the inmate’s regular day-room allowance.
The inmate, 26-year-old Cameron Jared Johnson of Arcata, was occupying a common room in the unit when he attempted to stab the deputy in the neck/facial area with a sharpened pencil. The deputy was able to take control of the situation and detain Johnson until backup arrived. Johnson and the deputy sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Johnson has been charged with assault on a custodial officer, assault with a deadly weapon on a custodial officer and violation of probation.

  • So glad to see that at least some stabbings or attempted stabbings will go punished for sure. Baby steps.

  • Stab your neighbor, no big deal. Stab a cop, hahaha your done!

  • What makes it so funny is there golf pencils in jail. Think about a golf pencil in your hand now think about stabbing someone with it. Very low chance of death from that wound

  • 99% of the effort in any incarceration is to keep the inmates from finding ways to hurt each other, the personnel and the property. Heaven forbid they spend time assessing or learning. But of course the reason they are there in the first place is usually assessing and learning was not part of their lives before jail either.

  • Hope the officer is ok. Cameron was always the mellow brother. His brother is Nick Johnson. He just got sent off to prison for murder and the shooting attempt of the DA investigator. Nick was the violent sociopathic brother. Not Cameron. Sad to see.

You: “Nick was the violent sociopathic brother. Not Cameron.”

Article: “…he(Cameron) attempted to stab the deputy in the neck/facial area with a sharpened pencil…”

I’m guessing you don’t know what you’re talking about.

  • Makes me curious what that cop did??? A man usually doesn’t choose to spend the rest of his life in the shu.
