Lucas Dale Blake-Williams: aka Lupi, aka Lion–Outlaw, Legend in Your Own Right
This section includes both obituaries and memories. Honoring our loved ones who have died does not end immediately after their passing. We recognize that… so we’re extending our obituary section to include individuals who may have left a long time ago. If you want to remember someone who is gone, either recently or longer ago, please send a photo and a few sentences to [email protected].
The status quo set out to stifle you while you were still only a child. Fittingly, the threat you posed was made evident by your love. There were many times when you lived up to the expectations set out for you; it was as if you could single-handedly change the world in the times when you saw all that love and faith reflected back at you.
Other times, you allowed the darkness in the world to obscure your path and power. And so you sought to regain some of that power by exiting on your own terms. We wish you would have found a way that would have you here with us today. You certainly didn’t leave the world unscathed, so no worries there. You cast all the colors and shadows of a fast burning flame against a dark background.
Your flame continues in the hearts of your many friends and lovers, who feel your presence in all the complexities of life. Your flame continues in the hearts of your two beautiful daughters who may yet carry out your legacy of revolutionary love. Your flame continues in the heart of your mother, who knows you best and loves you most.
We hope that in the end you felt all the love that’s ever been felt for you.
If so, your last moments here were bliss.
For all the times you lent your passionate voice to this, here’s to you.
Rest In Irie, Lupi.
Well I’ve heard there was a secret chord
That David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing HallelujahHallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
HallelujahWell your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
She tied you to her kitchen chair
And she broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the HallelujahHallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
HallelujahBut baby I’ve been here before
I’ve seen this room and I’ve walked this floor
You know, I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
And love is not a victory march
It’s a cold and it’s a broken HallelujahHallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
HallelujahWell there was a time when you let me know
What’s really going on below
But now you never show that to me do ya
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was HallelujahHallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
HallelujahMaybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew yaAnd it’s not a cry that you hear at night
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken HallelujahHallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
HallelujahHallelujah
