SFHS Performing Arts Raising Money to Rent Puppet for ‘Little Shop of Horrors’
From South Fork High School Performing Arts:
South Fork High School Performing Arts is excited to bring the classic musical Little Shop of Horrors to the stage this spring!
Little Shop of Horrors is a horror/comedy/rock musical where a meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination! Here’s where we need help:
The plant in this play is a human sized puppet operated internally by a student actor (see photo). It costs $2200 for three weeks of rental and shipping. We have reserved the puppet but need $2200 by April 15th to get the puppet to our stage.
This is an amazing opportunity for our rural students to work with a state of the art prop designed by the licensing agents of the production. They are so excited to bring this amazing musical to our Southern Humboldt Audiences. Your support will show how much our community values performing arts education and our students.

Participating in theater is an excellent experience to have when you are young! (Well, at any age, of course! Lol).
The article doesn’t say HOW they are raising funds. If they are looking for financial help (outside of SHUSD) , someone’s gotta let us know how to do that.

There’s a GoFundMe link at the bottom.
The kids could save a bundle by utilizing the Art and Sewing classes… or… are these skills still taught?
The movie “Little Shop of Horrors” is on Netflix, and is hands down one of the funniest plays ever performed! Good luck with the project, Youngun’s.
Where or how can we chip in?
I remember SFHS did this play a number of years ago. Sara Champie and Les Sher’s younger daughter were some of the students acting in it. The weird plant looked like it had been made by students. But I could be wrong. Can’t wait to see this show!!!
