Fortuna Seeking Residents to Serve on Rohner Community Recreation and Park District Board of Directors

marijuana Fortuna logoFortuna, CA – The City of Fortuna has issued a call for applicants interested in serving on the Rohner Community Recreation and Park District (RCRPD) Board of Directors.

The RCRPD is a special district established in 1968 for the purposes of overseeing the planning, acquisition and construction of park facilities and to implement recreation programs. The District was originally formed to evaluate the feasibility of a community swimming pool to benefit both the incorporated and unincorporated areas surrounding Fortuna. The principal powers and duties of the RCRPD Board of Directors include the administrative, fiscal and operational oversight responsibilities in partnership with the City of Fortuna. The RCRPD encompasses an area of approximately 30 square miles (19,190 acres) and includes the entire City of Fortuna and the surrounding unincorporated areas.

In April 2018, the Fortuna City Council will be appointing three qualified candidates to serve on the Rohner Community Recreation and Park District Board of Directors. The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors will also be appointing two members to the District Board. Interested citizens should submit completed applications to City Hall by 4:00 pm on Friday, March 23, 2018. Check the City’s website for additional information.
