They probably won’t be, this wasn’t a ‘violent’ crime. They are just innocent people caught up with the horrible disease of addiction. It’s not their fault in any way, they are the victims and should be given as much leniency as possible. Because of that, they will more than likely be released on their own OR.

My comment was sarcasm, I totally agree. I just get tired of these jackasses getting released before withdrawals even start when it’s Humboldt county jail that gets them.

Yeah, great way to set up a life time of government handouts. Become an addict as soon as you can and get off the hook for ever needing to do anything productive your whole life since SSI and and all the other freebies they get never stop. Great system isn’t it?

WTF are you guys talking about?! I’ve been a drug addict for 15 years and have never heard of a program where I get money from government for it… maybe I’ve been under a rock or just too busy paying my taxes and getting high. I’ll have to look into this though. And then tell all my friends! Thanks for it!

You’ve definitely been under a rock. I think your problem was paying taxes. Look at all the deadbeats drug addicts that are flooding the streets. They get their free money every month, plus free food, free phone and food stamps.

you don’t get SSI for being an addict. its called CalFresh, its for all low income in CA. if they are getting SSI, then they have been determined to have a mental illness by a doctor and unable to work due to it. you have to focus on education to solve this problem, it afflicts the least educated coast to coast. its no different here than there.

Post Release Community Supervision…just wth is that and who is doing any supervision? The guy has a warrant for sales on top of being supervised. Yeah our penal system is really working. So now does he go on Super Secret Community Supervision? Is there really anyone supervising these people. There is no punishment for not following the rules of society.

Agree wholeheartedly with Confused above….what are we doing with our criminals other than giving them repeated chances to victimize more citizens of our community.

Meanwhile, Arcata has chosen to spend big bucks to remove a historic landmark from the Plaza. Good or bad, agree or disagree, trying to rewrite history instead of learning from it is a mistake. Further, spending money on this while the Plaza is a daily freak show is pathetic!!

Agree with you, Bill. “Activists” ignore criminal activities, overpriced housing, the REAL problems of the community and focus on a statue. I saw the photos of the speakers at the council meeting, I doubt most of them (except for enrolled tribal members) had been in HumCo longer than a few years. They are the same people who forced through Prop 47, which gives us those two pathetic creatures pictured above.

Please try some research on our justice system for once, instead of just parroting the ‘Its all the libs fault’ bull. Prisoners are released when there is no place to put them. And WHO constantly votes DOWN any new funding for jails and prisons? Guess?

Agree, why rid ourselves of our history? So we can lie and pretend we are better than we are? History is history. You cannot change it even if you cover it up.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Is the Justice system ever going to get it? I’m sure glad we left Humboldt County. We miss our friends terribly though.

Humbolts healthy future taking stride. Wait till all the growers start to run out, oops they already are. Thank you law enforcement, you really have started to get the ball rolling on the meth issue that has plagued our community. Now start the DUI for marijuana like Mendo county and we will feel safer driving in our community.

Partially a result of people against building more jails and prisons, or adding on to the ones we have. There are more and more criminals violating our lives and poisoning our kids. They cannot continue to be released to keep committing these crimes. The only alternatives, if we really want to change this deadly cycle, are to put them in prison, and keep them there, or exterminate them. Otherwise, don’t expect change and don’t complain when it happens to you, a friend or family member.

They need drug treatment and job training. But why should our supervisors for the past two decades think of attracting businesss to beautiful Humboldt county with tax incentives? Oh that’s right they’ve wasted all their time on the narrow sighted future of cannabis. Humboldt slips backwards again as the world passes us by. Good job supes.
