Two Accidents in Icy Conditions on Hwy 101 South of Leggett
Icy conditions are impacting travelers on Hwy 101 south of Leggett this morning. One reader told us, “We are traveling south today and just [passed] two separate vehicle accidents in south lanes of 101 south of Leggett.” She described a red truck on its side in the right lane and a few miles south of that was “a black car upside down on [the] right shoulder.”
The CHP Traffic Incident Information Page reports that an ambulance responded to the accident with the red truck. The page said at 8:49 a.m., “Road conditions are terrible, ice all over, cars slipping.”

But isn’t that picture just north of confusion hill?
Yes, my error. I was thinking that was where 271 crossed 101 south of Leggett but instead it is where 271 crosses closer to the Humboldt County line. I’ve changed the caption. Thank you.
That is just south of the south Piercy exit onto 271.
That distant Road segment you can see in the picture is the North Bridge of the two confusion Hill Bridges.
The section of 101 that passes Tan Oak Park is notorious for ice.. That’s why a sand barn is loocated there..
