Press release from Humboldt County Public Works:

Bair Road is OPEN. Carry chains.

Butler Valley Road – chains required

Fickle Hill Road – chains required

Kneeland Road – chains required

The following road closures are in effect:

Meridian Road @ m.p. 0.75

The following roads are opened with conditions:

Horse Mountain Road (aka Titlow Hill Road) – chains required on all vehicles

Alder Point Road – snow tires okay; 4-wheel drive vehicles okay; carry chains

Shelter Cove Road – snow tires okay; 4-wheel drive vehicles okay; carry chains

Bald Hills Road – chains required

Kneeland Road – snow tires okay; 4-wheel drive vehicles okay; carry chains

Fickle Hill Road – snow tires okay; 4-wheel drive vehicles okay; carry chains

Mattole Road – chains required

I saw more stupidity in the snow yesterday than I’ve seen in some time.
A lot of youthful pride, arrogance, and ignorance…vs. age and experience!

Just try to keep your distance from stupidity. It tends to want to ride your bumper just before it tries to pass.

Kneeland Road dhows both carry chains and chains required. Probably changes somewhere along the road but it would be nice to know where.
