This immature Cooper’s Hawk sitting on utility lines is keeping its feathers fanned out to gather heat and has one talon drawn into its chest feathers to conserve heat, according to Ann Constantino, the photographer that took this photo at the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
