[UPDATE 8:37 a.m.] Snow, Sleet, Hail, Rain, and Even Thunder Last Night; More Predicted

Weather, in all the wintery varieties, settled over the Emerald Counties yesterday and is continuing today. Yesterday, several county roads, including Berta Road pictured above, were closed due to flooding. The National Weather Service reported, “Last night hail, snow, and thunder were reported across the area. Chain map trinity county jan 25 2018Hwy 3, 36, and 299 all had chain control required this morning. Hwy 299 has cleared slightly on the west end and chains are no longer required on Berry Summit but east of Junction City past the Shasta County line there are multiple areas where chains are required. Several mountainous areas in Trinity County are predicted to get multiple inches of snow today. So be sure to check your routes before heading out.

UPDATE: County Roads is requesting that travelers carry chains on Alderpoint Road north of Blocksburg, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page.

Clicked on the quick maps link above. Sure do wish folks in 4wheel drive large trucks would responsibly drive on the 299 in the early morning commute hours. When the road has slushy snow you can still spin out. I will move over when it is safe to do so. But do not ride my bumper, please.
