Prayers for all sounds awful
I agree.
Kym. Since I am in Eureka, heading south soon, I will be watching for an update. Appreciate it if you can post one when you know more. Thanks!
At this point–6:24 p.m., it is still closed but I’m anticipating it opening soon. Fingers crossed.
Hope it opens before this Greyhound bus I’m on comes through.
Thanks for the update Kym! On my way south…..
Pix
Thank you!
Is this the area where there is one lane traffic due to construction? People are driving way too fast in those areas. I’ve never seen the CHP enforcing the 45 MPH limit. I hope the people in this accident are going to be okay.
From the looks of the picture the accident is just south of Myers flat, the construction zone is just north.
The sign says suggested speed of 45, not speed limit, there is a differance.
Sometimes even 45 is to fast, other times there is no need to reduce to 45 when nothing is around no one working and theroad is dry and it is light out.
Fucking 101 @ Meyers flat . Basically an accident magnet.
A double guard rail divider or something like it between north and south lanes could have saved so many lives !! Enough is Enough !!
your right enough is enough people need to learn how to drive its not the road its the people !!!
The way people are speeding all along 101 now is ridiculous. Sick of pickups on my ass in the slow lane!
(I do 65 to 70 in the SLOW lane).
I’m so glad that nobody was seriously hurt. We drove past at about 5:15, and it looked very serious. The pickup was basically destroyed, as was the sedan, and parts —big parts, wheels and so on, were scattered all over the southbound lanes. My hair literally was standing on end. Scary.
What is the speed limit for a simi truck with trailer?. I thought it was 55mph if your pulling a trailer. But I must be mistaken. To pass them I usually have to go 75 to 80mph to get around them. I speed to I’m not a saint. Glad everyone is ok.
special license, professional? Slow down sister, or brother. It’s the 101 scenic drive. It’s easier to stay on your side of the road.
Passed this at around 5pm and looked pretty bad with cars overturned and airbags deployed. Waiting to head south and waiting patiently in L side of lane headed south but “jackasses” trying to cut in on R side when they could clearly see that CHP and accident was blocking that lane. It’s bad enough to have one accident lets be careful and not cause others. Glad everyone walked away.
I had a similar experience watching several people do a U turn, from N bound, into S bound lanes, at an accident site, where one person died.
This was New Year’s Eve, when I was coming home from work in Garberville, around 5:30ish. It was dark, and approaching South bound traffic could not be seen. That accident was between P’ville, and Miranda.
While I waited for the accident to be cleared, I also worried about some T-bone accident sending vehicles slamming into my car.
I know that all First Responders put there lives on the line to help others. If you are caught in the parking lot effect; please just wait! Don’t use this as an opportunity to destroy your life, and the lives of others.
Build another millions of dollars wall that catches deer and fawns and critters in the fast lane…Like the one near Fortuna…. Brilliant! Get the Mexicans to build it…AND…… Free roadkill!
What are you even talking about? [edit]
