Two Arrested at Dean Creek With Part of a Stolen UTV, Firearms, $6000, and Pounds
This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
Deputies investigating the theft of a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) made a big discovery Monday in Southern Humboldt.
On Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 around 11 a.m. deputies were dispatched to a business on the 3500 block of Redwood Dr. in Redway for the report of a stolen UTV. The business reported that the UTV was stolen sometime during the night on Jan. 13.
On Jan. 15, a sheriff’s deputy received a crime tip that the subjects responsible for the theft were possibly camped in a trailer at Dean Creek Resort. Following up on the lead, deputies arrived at Dean Creek Resort and noticed a trailer matching the tip’s description. Deputies discovered that the trailer was reported stolen out of Hidden Valley. Deputies also located a plastic hood piece to a UTV with distinct and custom painted graphics matching those of the stolen UTV.
Deputies surrounded the trailer and requested all occupants exit. The occupants eventually complied. Deputies detained 39-year-old Jason Joseph Mitchell and 25-year-old Cameren Michelle Boudreaux.
During a search of the trailer, deputies located four firearms, a high capacity magazine, ammunition, several pounds of marijuana packaged for sale and $6,000 cash.
Boudreaux was arrested on outstanding Sonoma County warrants for the following charges: possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, false identification to a peace officer and violation of probation.Mitchell was arrested on the following charges: felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, buying or receiving a stolen vehicle or equipment.
This case is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at (707) 445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.

You have 6000 bucks and you hide out in stolen trailer? Huh? Prisons full of dumb criminals.
Ya that was my utv there pieces of shit go to hell
Was the entire utv recovered?
No, only a part of it, according to the Sheriff’s Office. I originally misunderstood that the whole UTV had been recovered but it hasn’t been.
LE should have stacked all the charges they could! No detachable clips, Extended mag. Everything.
DA can still do that, doesn’t have to be done at time of arrest..
Jacob, If I were you I’d check for tracks along the river behind Dean’s Creek. They may have stashed it. There’s a person who lives under the bridge there- ask if they’ve seen it. Also, take a drive around Fortuna, especially near 12th st. The Fortuna police won’t check to see if something’s stolen even it’s right in front of their nose. Even if you call them and tell them where it is! I know from experience when my jet ski was stolen from John’s place. Those people probably don’t live there any more but it’s worth a try. A “watch for stolen UTV” with a photo on craig’s list doesn’t hurt either. When my JS was stolen I got a call from someone who saw it.
They are most likely out all ready!
They won’t be in jail long enough even to receive mail
Hopefully I can pick up that bump stock at the next auction
Maybe so, but there isn’t one in this photo.
And big doubt they would, as they are illegal in Ca..
Wow, great neighbors to have at Dean Creek. The place is just not what it once was.
I sold Dean Creek in 2003 last time I was back to visit my daughter and family I was afraid to even drive through the place. Who owns/ runs the place now?😰Yikes!Bonnie G
Let’s see. Bunch of guns. Stolen UTV. Bunch of weed. 6 grand. 39 year old sleaze ball and a 25 years old meth face picked girl living in a stolen trailer. Yep. Sounds just like SoHum. Use that one for the next Chamber of commerce meeting.
C’mon, there are bad spots but there are plenty of good. What about this? https://kymkemp.com/2018/01/14/two-new-businesses-open-in-miranda-as-the-tiny-town-continues-its-economic-upswing/
That’s in Miranda not Redway/Garberville original names of so hum.
You’ve got to be kidding me…SoHum’s border is disputed but Miranda has always been well within its boundaries for my entire life and I’m almost old….
Ahh but you are wise. Love your spunk.
Sorry Kym. My bad. There are good folks everywhere. You included. Just seems the bad starts to outweigh the good in SoHum these days. The baddies just make the news more. Lol. Keep up the good work.
Hey [edit], how about you post under your REAL name? Don’t talk smack about Sohum if you don’t live here. There a lot of us working to make a difference. How many meth labs are there in Nohum?
I can tell you I have no reason to visit SoHum and I love doing the tourist shit around here with my family. Places like SoHum and Hoopa, Alderpoint the list is long and growing. Sorry you chose to live there, sounds rough these days. Yo
You are missing out. From the burl shops to gorgeous Richardson Grove to Shelter Cove to the little stores in the towns to the Avenue—Southern Humboldt is absolutely lovely and has a remarkable number of good places to eat. The Farmers Markets are worth the drive all by themselves. And the hikes and the swimming holes can’t be beat.
No meth labs in Humboldt anymore, since the Mexican cartels can make it cheaper, purer, and ship it here faster than a local lab.. small labs are in the past..
Humboldt turning, into a bad joke and we all know it kym. Mirandas upswing doesnt make a dent. Get real!
The legalization you helped smile us into reamed everyones ass so hard its hard to sit and relax these days.
Financially, Humboldt County is all hurting. I had hoped we would have prepared better for what I felt is both inevitable and morally right. Yes, I voted for legalization and yes, I think it was the right thing to do. Not for Humboldt or the Emerald Triangle but for the greater humanity–you know the folks whose whole life gets messed up because they have a drug (a marijuana) charge. Not to mention, minorities and poor people suffer in disproportionate numbers from illegality. Legalization here and in other states is a step towards decent scientific research which might and probably will lead to lives being saved and lives being improved. In addition, the cost of the drug war is enormous and the money could be better spent. So I hope I helped “smile us” into legalization. I wish I had convinced our leaders to support the small farmer more and keep the economic base solid here in our area.
No sights on that AR. I guess he was going to rely on the power of prayer.
