Court Issues Preliminary Injunction Stopping Trump Administration From Ending DACA

Press release from California Attorney General Xavier Becerra:

California Attorney General logoCalifornia Attorney General Xavier Becerra – joined by the Attorneys General for Maine, Maryland and Minnesota, as well as the University of California, individual Dreamers and other plaintiffs – obtained a preliminary injunction against the Trump Administration over its decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA). The ruling in the District Court for the Northern District of California blocks the Trump Administration’s rescission of DACA while the underlying case continues. The Court determined that the merits of California’s case are strong, that there would be immediate harm if the Administration’s plan to terminate DACA were to proceed, and that the public interest is served by prohibiting the Administration from ending DACA before the legal issues are ruled on.

“Dreamers’ lives were thrown into chaos when the Trump Administration tried to terminate the DACA program without obeying the law,” said Attorney General Becerra. “Tonight’s ruling is a huge step in the right direction. America is and has been home to Dreamers who courageously came forward, applied for DACA and did everything the federal government asked of them. They followed DACA’s rules, they succeeded in school, at work and in business, and they have contributed in building a better America. We will fight at every turn for their rights and opportunities so they may continue to contribute to America.”

In November 2017, Attorney General Becerra filed a motion seeking this preliminary injunction against the Trump Administration over its decision to end DACA. In that motion, Attorney General Becerra set forth the federal government’s violations of the United States Constitution and federal laws designed to ensure that our government treats everyone fairly and transparently. California and the other plaintiffs in this action have continued to emphasize that terminating the program is causing irreparable harm to DACA recipients as well as to the States and communities in which they live.

In July 2017, Attorney General Becerra led 20 attorneys general in sending a letter to President Trump urging him to maintain and defend DACA. In the letter, the attorneys general explained how DACA has benefited their states and the nation as a whole and called on Trump to fulfill his public commitment to Dreamers, whom he called “incredible kids” who should be treated “with heart.” Roughly a quarter of all DACA grantees, more than 200,000 young people, live in California. All 20 of the signatories to this letter have since joined lawsuits challenging the Trump Administration’s rescission of DACA.

Im sure his idea of communism comes from some sort of mccarthy era propaganda. He probably think Stalinist Russia was communist.

100 years of experimentation with state wealth redistribution, and 100 million deaths later, if you find anything redeeming in communism, you are either historically ignorant, or morally repugnant.

DEPORT THEM ALL. They or their parents came illegally. They need to go through the legal process from scratch. Why do they get to cheat and others don’t??

I deal with these arrogant illegals every day. They cannot speak English. Their kids speak for them, count change, do business. Embarrassing. I tried to speak with a woman and she could not understand me yet SHE HAD A DRIVER’S LICENSE. How does an illegal get a driver’s license?

The so-called “attorney general” for California is a street agitator for illegals and other criminals.

Please can we keep them and send you somewhere instead? White trash is every bit as prone to criminal activity, maybe more so. I’m guessing you’re one of them. At least most of the illegals I’ve met and hired were courteous and willing to learn.

Hey Total shock, illegals represent over 20% of the federal prison population, and that’s the low end figures; the high end is up to 35% depending on who you want to believe. Either way they are a fraction of the overall population so, no, “white trash” is NOT every bit as prone to criminal activity and certainly not more so. Sorry to totally shock you out of your ignorance. Maybe go sit in a circle and beat a drum. That will ease the pain of reality and you can lie to yourself some more and believe that you are changing the world…..or something.

Yea, because the criminal justice system doesn’t disproportionately sentence minorities to long jail terms for crimes white trash get fines and probation for.

Disproportionate or just appropriate? That’s like saying, just because fewer women than men are sent to prision for rape, that men are treated unfairly. Maybe the issue needs a little more thought than white people to blame for everything.

These people are automatic criminals just for being here with out proper legal papers. We should not be discussing their rights, Shouldnt even be a talking point. I do not care about criminal rights! How long they have been here, What precieved good they have done or wrought. Its all moot as long as they are what? “Criminals”!

No they are. The only criminality is crossing the border with intent to circumvent the law. A child can’t have that intent.

A couple of points. There are many legal immigrants who don’t speak english, always have been. The California drivers license exam is available in Spanish as are virtually all state documents. I also deal with non english speaking customers where I work and have yet to come across one who I would describe as arrogant.

Ha. I did all the time. Would run me ragged to get translators whenever they showed up yet magically acquire sufficient English without a translator needed when they found a benefit was available. It was a way of making others dance to their tune.

Bless the immigrant who brought their own translator or worked with me until we got the necessary business done. Those who unloaded their resentment by demanding language accommodation at every turn were a PITA.

Having tolerated illegal immigration for so long, the government has created an obligation. Yup. The fruit of not enforcing laws for reasons of greed or convenience is like adopting a child. Good or bad, you’re stuck with the results.

There is no special virtue in being the child of an illegal but no special sin either. Like every other group, they are a mix of good and bad people. It depends on who they are as individuals.

A person who was sent to “visit” at age 6 and never left is not the same case as a person who entered themselves at age 16 with the intent of joining a criminal friend or relative. Examples of both can be trotted out to support the deport or amnesty as needed.

But unless some limit is placed on tolerance and intolerance both, the people who think of themselves as not US citizens will be gathering increased numbers of divisive not US citizens here and they treat native born, non related people as enemies.

Under any circumstances, the Federal Court in San Francisco is a tool of the California liberal activist culture. They almost always make up their own laws and can be counted on to make decisions with impunity sure to be reversed by the Supreme Court. The only cure is to move the Courts out of San Francisco. Bakersfield would be a good choice. Maybe Auburn. I doubt most 9th District judges are up to living in the midst of the messes they create. Maybe Stockton. Anywhere where away from obscene amounts of wealth that immunize them from reality.

Daca is illegal, and what trump did was in order to truely help these people, by forcing elected officials to devise and pass a program for these folks to truely have equal rights, but with all the bleeding hearts so unwilling to see anything as a positive from trump, he could give everyone 10k , create world peace and most would still hate him.

Yet if he stops a bully by putting up his fists and saying have at it, the bullying may stop. A scary chance but then turning a blind eye is scary too. A world that contains a leader actually shooting off missiles to threaten others while starving their people to do it is a scary place.

People hate Trump for what he says but then they have no real solutions themselves. Trump is scary because he’s so out there in his speech. He’s scary because he tries to keep his word where he thinks it important and disregards everyone who has different opinions when he doesn’t. He’s emotionally labile and that is scary.

But then the ugly undercurrent of corruption running under soothing words and ineffectiveness is pretty scary too. We’re just much more used to it as a normalcy that only occasionaly kills us.

I wonder, if Chamberlain had reacted to Hitler in such a scary way, whether millions wouldn’t died so horrendously.

One thing is for sure, whichever one of his children showed him how to use twitter has done a great disservice to politics. (And potentially world peace) I’ve wondered for awhile now if his tweets are actually what he believes or if it’s part of a act. Neither would surprise me.

The only reason that the national media didn’t bury him. For good or evil, that is the one reason he was elected. And if there is one characteristic of Trump that is meaningful, it is tenacity.

Yes, he makes me nervous to. But then I look at action after the words, and have not yet found a serious issue other than the same issues of the previous Presidents.

He certainly would be more likable if he followed the usual pattern of politicians to lie or omit as they feel gets them around public opinion. But that is not what won the election. Trump won because, and it surprises me, that he said what a large number of the populace believed and meant it. Shocking. Their concerns had been dismissed for over a decade.

If his noisy blather on the internet works, I will just grit my teeth and deal with it. I’m not inviting him to dinner but that does not mean I don’t have a grudging admiration for his sheer tenacity. And frankly that he is so foolish as to expect to do what everyone keeps telling him can’t be done.

We dislike Trump because the “stable genius” is a compulsive liar. He makes stuff up as he goes along. The list of lies and misleading statements that this guy has spouted in the campaign and presidency has destroyed any credibility he may have had. For instance , how can we believe that , as he claims, the new tax scheme is not going to benefit him when he won’t release his taxes which he promised he would during the campaign. The guy’s political career started when he claimed he had evidence that Obama wasn’t born in this country. There is no reason for anyone to take this guy at his word.

So far that tendency has not created chaos for me where Obama’s lies about “keeping your doctor”, immigration, and not pursuing State regulated pot, among other things, had. Obama made things up right and left. Bush did too. Yet because they made less noise, no one held them accountable even though they acted on their mistaken ideas.

I remember the first time I actually looked closely at an Obama speech and said to myself that he can’t be right or that the whole speech ended up saying nothing. And that it was clear he intended to act where he did not have authority to do so in a calloused arrogant way. I waited for the press to take up these obvious defects but they never did.

Oh well. The same people who nodded like bobble head dolls over other politicians’ dishonesty are equally unobservant now when they resort to insults over personal appearance with Trump and actually want him to harm the country to prove themselves right. Never do they mention issues which require thought.

EXCELLENT COMMENT, OBAMA CHOSE TO IGNORE THE RULE OF LAW FOR VOTES, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WHERE A LITTLE SLOW TO RESPOND, BUT THEY FINALLY DID, AND ANYBODY THAT THE REPUBS WOULD HAVE PUT IN THERE COULD HAVE WON AGAINST H CLINTON. MY UNION PUSHED CLINTON TO THE HILT, SO DID ALL THE UNIONS, BUT WHEN PAYDAY CAME AROUND AN THE CHECK WAS THE SAME OR LESS, PEOPLE STARTED TO SAY HMMMM. MY DUES WENT UP BUT MY RATE OF PAY STAYED THE SAME, TRY RAISING A FAMILY ON THOSE SIMPLE ECONOMICS. YOU SURE AS HELL DON’T NEED A MASTERS TO FIGURE THAT ONE OUT.

You are not alone , once aca passed my health care through my union more than doubled and the doctors avaible shrunk by around 35 percent. Hardly a decent move for the working person, you know the ones with careers and not just jobs. But hey after all that i took a long hard looks at things and figured out that if i worked hard i would get robbed of my rewards for my labor before i even got paid, but if i stopped working and just lived off of savings and investments inwould keep more of my monies, so i quit, maybe one day when those of us who have value are no longer punished i will return but untill then, enjoy paying all the increases on your own. The only way to win a rigged game is to not play so imo i am winning. 2 rental properties and a disability penson from military service is enough to surive on, saddly not enough to vacation and save college funds for my children, but hey, since everyone else seems to think they deserve free college maybe mine will get it as well.
I know several other folks who have done as i did, and when i hear folks complaining about thencosts of aca since people are dropping out i just laugh. Enjoy paying your own way.

What does this have to do with a guy who wouldn’t know what the truth is if hit him in the ass. I am not here to defend Obama or Hilary. I am telling you we have never had a president who lies more and knows less than this fool. I thought Bush was sub par but hell he looks like Honest Abe compared to this clown. The 1% are laughing all the way to the bank while you suckers defend this jerk.

Well? People of like mind have put Trump in office? people were sick of the business as usual in Washington, Hillary represents that! We sent Trump to destroy your political mess that has been a monster for far too long! I hope he tears it all apart, long over due. Looked at your 401k lately? Mine is blowing up. We won the cold war the amount of lives spent and the treasure for what? We have wasted our victory. Trump is already getting us better deals. America has gave away everything for far to long. I lived through the 80’s they were good times. Reaganomics works.
