[UPDATE 1:39] 4.5 Quake Struck West of Petrolia

At approximately 11 a.m., a 4.6 quake struck about 50 miles west of Petrolia. The only reports from people feeling it have been in the Petrolia area.

Did you feel it? If so, you can report it here.

[Note: The reports varied at first on the size of the quake, but now the experts appear to have settled on 4.6. UPDATE: Now, the experts are saying 4.7!]

UPDATE 1:39: The quake is now being reported as 4.5. There has been an unusual amount of changing the report of the size. We’re not sure why.

Felt it briefly in Briceland. I looked at the clock. It was 11 a.m. exactly.

So were there 2, a 4.6 and a 4.7 ?
Then one was 82 miles from Petrolia and the second was 50 miles from where?

The confusion might be that LOCO is listing 2 separate quakes while you are correct, there is only on listed on the map.

Depth was 29.4 km, which isn’t that deep.

Seems pretty deep. That’s why it was not felt over a larger area. Too deep. 4.5+ would be shakier if it was shallow and closer in. Dr. Dengler, stat, stat. No tsunami either, I guess.
