traffic accidentAt approximately 1:18 p.m. a big rig and a truck collided north of Leggett south of Dora Creek on Hwy 101 at mile marker 96.

UPDATE 2:21 p.m.:
Caltrans reports, “Highway 101 north of Leggett closed from mm 95.12 to 97.12. ETO unknown, possibly 2 hours. No alternate route available…”

UPDATE 4:07 p.m.: The highway opened to one-way controlled traffic at 4:05 p.m. Expect traffic to be slow through the area for some time.

I just drove through there. Lots of icy stretches and people driving way too fast. Slow down people!

It was Morgan Randall (piersons manager) vs logging truck. Logging truck veered into his lane for an unknown reason, Morgan chose to hit the truck head on rather than go off the cliff (as those were his only options). I believe the logging truck, once it made contact, hit Morgans truck into another car and then the logging truck went off the embankment and the driver actually died. Morgan does not have major injuries and I don’t think the other car he collided with had any either. (Info via grapevine from employee of piersons who talked to morgan on the phone)

Let’s keep names off the internet until official name is released from police. It’s only polite

Let’s keep names of victim(s) or possible victims off the internet as sometimes not all family knows what is going on…news tends to travel quicker on the internet
