NWS Offers a Brief Rundown on Some of This Week’s Hazardous Conditions

From the US National Weather Service Eureka California Facebook page:

Happy Sunday everyone! Here’s a brief run-down on these hazardous conditions.

Large NW swell will continue through this evening over the coastal waters. Another large swell will move into the area on Tuesday and continue through middle of the week.

Due to astronomical high tide, there is an elevated potential for coastal flooding in Humboldt Bay, especially for King Salmon and Arcata Bottoms. High tide today is at 10:40 am at 8.5 feet at North Split. Monday’s high tide is at 11:25 am at 8.5 feet.

Elevated sneaker wave potential on Tuesday. Timing and magnitude of the event still needs to be determined. Stay tuned for future updates.

Gusty offshore winds to 30 mph or higher expected on ridgetop locations from tonight through Tuesday morning.
