This ‘Sweetheart’ Is Looking for a Forever Home

A concerned reader emailed us about this dog that’s listed on Petharbor.com. If you know someone who can help get him/her into a forever home, please pass this along to them.

I am a neutered male, red and white Pit Bull Terrier and Rhodesian Ridgeback. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years and 1 month old. I have been at the shelter since Oct 06, 2017.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Roo is a gorgeous copper-red color with very slight brindle markings. He may look intimidating with his muscular physique and upright ears, but he is a sweetheart! He walks well on a leash and is very alert to his surroundings. He gets playful in the playpen, and fetches the ball well, returning it to you without prompting. He got separated from his previous owners when they were camping and visiting from out of state; although they searched for him, they had to return home several states away before he was found, thin and lonely. They were unable to come back to get him when he was located, sadly. He was originally named Rudy, but since there is already another Rudy in the shelter, Roo is his new moniker. He would make a wonderful family dog for his new owners.

Is there a way to donate for a ride or flight and get him back to his owners, or are they not able to have him?
His story pulls on my heartstrings!!

this dog is a mean little killer, i have seen hundreds just like him, good family dog but a cruel animal an cat killer. these are dangerous dogs. not the ridgeback part, unless you do a dna sample on that potlicker you will never know, he could bite someone even a child an who is responsible? the owner but the shelter said that this dog was the greatest since beer was put in a can. they will do anything to move a dog thru a shelter, good or not, everybody loves dogs. these folks take it to an extreme to make you feel bad for not taking the dog.

I agree with you. Some breeds should not leave the shelter. Its not fair to the rest of us. Just give them to the hmongs.

nobody knows the breed, nobody knows the parents. there are predictable dogs that is a good thing, for the owner, then there is the wild card, the chicken killer the cat killer the ankle biter, the bark all nite long breed. if you live way out off the grid, who cares, the dog is your best friend, try bringing em back to the land of sidewalks an street lites. thats one way these dogs enter a shelters.

they got two there now, you better tell your friend to get in line. those pedigree potlickers are cheaper by the dozen. and a little home owners insurance wont hurt either.
