Really, no reason? The answer is in the question. The smallest infraction, or “odor ” is enough to release the hounds. Box trailer on 36, 299, 96, 101…….questionable, unfortunately.
I drive my enclosed trailer on the highway multiple times a week… it’s full of… tools. It is my tool box. I’ve been waiting for the day I get profiled and pulled over.
“No, I do NOT consent to the search of my vehicle and trailer. Am I being detained? Am I free to go?”
Hellbilly, I was thinking the same thing. He had an actual ton of marijana, and got cited and released. You know its quite likely that he’ll get misdemeanor probation. Of course he probably has lost the ton of bud an the $22 grand, so it’s not exactly a slap on the wrist, but it wasn’t so long ago that he would have been facing serious prison time. Lets hope that next year the story will be that someone with a ton of marijuana got stopped, and the officer helped him get some directions to his destination.
Is it any different than 3 exclamation points or question marks after every single sentence?!!!???

Man o man that is a lot of dope! When it becomes fully legal does anyone have any idea of how they’ll deal with confiscated illegal pot? They used to just burn it, but now there’s a legal market. Will they still burn it?
[edit] It’s not legal!!! It’s regulated and taxed. You[edit] most have voted this crap in. Try going to North Carolina with your “weed is legal dude” story….
Who knows. Maybe it was actually 2100 pounds and only 2060 reported. Or $40000 and they took half. Many stories about ive heard from others about that happening over the years. Im sure it still does. I mean seriously, 2000+ pounds and dude gets to leave with his freedom? Times have changed indeed.
I came home on 36 last night in conditions that weren’t fit for a seal, miserable driving weather with no vis. But there were a whole lot of enclosed trailers taking advantage of that situation. I’d say 2 out of 3 vehicles had enclosed trailers.

Another dope dealer busted and 2,050 of poison off the streets. Hope he has a long stint in jail and they bust his source as well.
Not even close to as bad as those your listed are for your body.

Well if it’s the little short sheriff I’m sure he got something out of it. Guy is dirty as hell. I don’t even see how you can go home and feel good about yourself knowing you’re just as crooked as the grow scene itself.
Gotta love it baby,,,busted with a ton a weed and he was released,,,,,,1968 I got popped with less than one gram and did three days in jail, probation and with over $1K bail,,,,,the times they are a changin

Excellent! Keep pulling them over and searching, confiscating and seizing! We have a nasty problem here and we need more officers doing this every day. However…Why don’t you just friggin’ bust it all year long when it’s stuck in the ground? Why let it all get harvested and then do road checks? Seems like an inefficient use of limited police resources.

If the chp just sit by redcrest and seen all the enclosed trailers going in and out of that place, they’d make some more big busts!

Cited and released. Well that is maybe good for the tax payers and the jails but that is the last we will ever hear of Mr. Bonetti. What about the folks who owned all that weed. They may be rougher on Mr. Bonetti than the Law. Unless it was his, then it is just one bad year for an outlaw mega grower. My, how times have changed. I find myself thinking, with all that weed off the market, will the price go up?
And what about the follow up? Did he have property here? was it in the process of permitting? Was there a clear cut and un permitted grading? I would expect that LEO know these answers but I, for one, wish there was more follow up on these stories.
Kim does a great job, I only wish there was more follow up. Kim, could you use some help? Let the community know……
Yes, I could use more help. Unfortunately, I don’t have the money to hire it.

So the police have the right to pull a vehicle over for pulling an enclosed trailor over now?
This is in violation of any American citizens right against illegal search and seizure.
Maybe that’s why they just let a Nevada resident go home to Nevada, cause cannabis is rec. Legal there as well…..
You might want to review the illegal search and seizure statutes. If you choose to drive, you do so knowing that you can be pulled over for any reason. Once the officer makes contact, they can often find probable cause (low standard) or even verbal-judo-chop the driver into giving voluntary consent (even if they’ve got a metric ton of herb).
I believe that LEO’s May have extra leeway since Huffman had it declared a high volume drug trafficking area.
Good luck out there. Make sure you don’t smoke yourself stupid before hitting the roads!

They’ve been going hard out there last month or so. Many stories of enclosed trailers being profiled and pulled for no reason.
I wondered when they would figure out why all the enclosed trailers are all over the hills DUH
Really, no reason? The answer is in the question. The smallest infraction, or “odor ” is enough to release the hounds. Box trailer on 36, 299, 96, 101…….questionable, unfortunately.
Um. Because they all have weed in em…!
When the Emerald Triangle depression hits (soon), you can use the trailer to head on down the road to greener pastures.
oops
Succinct yet hillarious!
My heart goes out to this man. How sad.
Lol really? Can’t fix stupid.
The irony of reading this article with the “Stash Bags” ad to the right of it is remarkable…
Too Funny!!
Cited and released. Wow the times have changed
omgosh… Yes, they have!!!

Rainbows and Unicorns.
Yes they have, Troopers in Nevada are are tearing apart everything he owns there.
Thats what I was thinking. I was arrested for 20lbs back in 2000 and had a $500,000 bail. I was barely 21 years old.
BOOK EM DANNO. KEEP ON PUFFIN. SHOW EM YOU WILL FIGHT. HE COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE DAKOTAS! NO CATCH AN RELEASE THERE.

I will personally provide a pillow for him to bite if they allow us to film that
Amen to that..politics even the bear jew can side with…gobblessamurrikka and best luck2 guy in article.
Cannabis is legal.
Not in America
Cannabis is legal.
Then is it decriminalization that we are still lacking?
Try moving a ton of untaxed Tobacco. Government want it’s cut.

And no mention of bail.
“Cited and released” no need for bail
You don’t need bail when you are cited and released, not arrested in jail.
Ohh I’m sure he had his collective paperwork..
Excellent story!
So many questions… If they let him go with a ticket, did he buy the weed?
How many Nevadans are dry tonight?
Nevada has had a shortage ever since they legalized recreational weed last year…only alcohol suppliers can get permits to sell weed there..

Oh, I live in the mountains
I plant my seed in the ground
I grow the good sensamillia
I grow a- two thousand pounds
One ton of marijuana
I grow a one ton of marijuana
One ton of marijuana
I grow a one ton of marijuana
And when the sheriff he comes by
To charge me with drug abuse
I say hey man this is legal
It’s for my personal use
One ton of marijuana
I smoke a one ton of marijuana
One ton of marijuana
I smoke a one ton of marijuana
Now the stalk makes my paper
And the herb heals my eye
And the oil fuels my hemp car
And the exhaust gets me high
One ton of marijuana
I need a one ton of marijuana
One ton of marijuana
I need a one ton of marijuana
One ton of marijuana
We grow a one ton of marijuana — each!
One ton of marijuana
We grow a one ton of marijuana
Apologize to Darrel

About as poison as vidodin, codein some, alcohol, hardly

Ron Hanover for Sheriff! Keep the good ole boy network alive and well.
Looks like he got paid up front, only $100 a P times are tough lol
10 bucks a pound, lmao
Right? So many ppl SUCK at math..
right,
one ton value of 23k……
still,
dopers need to be removed from the community.
No, he had $23 k in cash and the weed.
Simple solution. keep em busy , its pull your trailer month and smear some skunk juice on it first. Lets make them earn their keeps.
I guess that the enclosed trailer salesman wasn’t exaggerating when he said “Dude, you could haul like a ton of cannabis in this baby”.
Gotta love it baby,,,busted with a ton a weed and he was released,,,,,,1968 I got popped with less than one gram and did three days in jail, probation and with over $1K bail,,,,,the times they are a changin

There is no way 2k lbs off the market will even be noticed in the slightest. There is so much more than you can even imagine being sat on out there.
Yes, I could use more help. Unfortunately, I don’t have the money to hire it.

Based on the section of hwy 36 where he was pulled over, probable cause most likely for crossing the double yellow line.

He got a ticket! Oh my gosh!
Somebody is going to get a new car or somethin.lol
My buddy came up to hunt with his work van, he got searched on the way in and on the way out, they don’t f around on dee 36
To The chump so sorry ,for your loss .
ridiculous to get arrested with 2,060 pounds in transportation and the fool just gets a citation. That’s a major bust, not a parking ticket!
