Now’s the Time to Get a Pet: Adoption Fees Marked Down, Shelter Full

brown and white pit on a leash

TRIGGER is a neutered male 2-year-old male who passed his temperament test and was up for adoption at the Shelter until the stress got too much for him. Redwood Pals Says: Trigger is a nice dog that doesn’t like being kenneled.

A concerned reader emailed us about this dog that’s listed on Redwood Pals Rescue. If you know someone who can help get him into a forever home, please pass this along to them. She also passed along this information about reduced adoption fees.

As of Tuesday, November 14, 2017 all adoptable dogs are available for a reduced adoption fee:

Seniors, 7 and older are available for $35

Pups, younger than 6 months are available for $80

Dogs older than 6 months but younger than 7 are adoptable for $50.00

The adoption application is one page. If you own your home you are good to go, if you rent, the Shelter will check with your landlord to see if it is ok for a dog to live at their rental.

Help spread the word so that we can find these wonderful dogs new homes and free up some much needed space at the shelter.

Adoptable dogs are neutered or spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, temperment tested, and some dogs, thanks to Redwood Pals Rescue even have some dog obedience training classes under their belt!

Humboldt County Animal Shelter 980 Lycoming McKinleyville, CA 95519 The shelter is located next to the airport in McKinleyville. Take the airport exit and follow the blue signs. Shelter temporary hours of operation until staff increases: Open Monday – Friday 10 – 4 pm with extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 7 pm.

There are several other dogs that need to be adopted that are listed on Redwood Pals Rescue. If you’d like to make a donation to Redwood Rescue Pals, you can do so at: https://www.razoo.com/organization/Redwood-Pals-Rescue

Russell and Brutus live! Sequoia Humane pulled 2 adoptable dogs and some dogs went home so Russell and Brutus got more time. Brutus is being pulled on a wing and a prayer tomorrow by It’s a Dog’s Life after members of the community asked if boarding donations would help. Paws crossed that Russell will be good to go tomorrow for the placement that Redwood Pals found for Russell. Redwood Pals also is getting Trigger out on all 4 paws. This leaves Meli the Anatolian mix who does not get along with livestock needing a placement to save her life.

Adoptable dog population – despite Sequoia Humane Society pulling two dogs – is at 27 nice dogs!

Dogs keep coming in because of the winds. Difficult time to be a Shelter dog!

Thank you for spreading the word – it is so vital – Russell and Brutus are alive because of it.
