Potter Fire: 1500 Acres, 11 Structures Confirmed Destroyed

At approximately 10:36 last night, a vegetation fire broke out in Potter Valley which is east of Redwood Valley. The fire began in the Busch Lane area but has spread over about 1500 acres, according to Cal Fire. The fire is 0% contained this morning and at least 11 structures have been destroyed. The cause of the fire is unknown.

“Firefighters are on scene battling the large fire,” stated an incident fact sheet. “High winds are hindering fire fighting efforts….Potter Valley Fire, Ukiah Fire, Redwood Coast Fire, South Coast Fire at scene- All Mendocino Fire Departments are responding.”

Facebook has started a site for people to mark themselves safe from Potter Valley, Pomo, and Redwood Valley.

https://airnow.gov has a fire area map.

Van Arsdale dam area just put under “advisory evacuation.” The fire is on the NORTH side of the Eel…for now. No phones, land-line OR cell. Satellite internet OK.
