[UPDATE 2:40 p.m.] Hey, Folks, Those Helicopters Are Working for PG&E

Press release from PG&E:

On Friday, Oct. 6, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) will fly two helicopters along electric distribution lines in Humboldt County in order to survey the lines for improved electric reliability.  The lines to be surveyed run from Garberville to Shelter Cove up to Petrolia and then from Hoopa up to Orleans.

Two different contracted Bell 407s will survey the lines out of the Arcata-Eureka Airport between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

In addition, PG&E is extending the days it’s flying a medium-lift helicopter within Eureka through  Friday, Oct. 6.  Customers in the area of Freshwater Road were notified of the helicopter landing zone via the contact information PG&E has on record for their account and customers were also informed by foot patrols in-person.

That helicopter, a Bell 212, has been flying several trips a day in the area of Freshwater and Butler Valley Roads, including weekends, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Weather and other factors affecting safe working conditions impacted the work schedule.

PG&E contract crews are replacing 90 wooden poles with light duty steel transmission towers from Eureka to Weaverville in order to improve electric reliability for customers in Humboldt and Trinity Counties.  There will be additional landing zones and flights starting Oct. 17 in Hyampom and then eventually eastward to Weaverville as the remaining power poles are replaced.

If customers have questions about personnel or want to check for PG&E’s presence in the community, please call at 1-800-743-5000.

UPDATE 2:40 p.m.: Deanna Contreras tells us the colors of the two Bell 407s tomorrow are “White w/ black/copper markings and Dark Blue with a Silver Stripe.”

These green rushers don’t have a clue of what used to go on around here, they don’t realize the terror endured by the growers of the past that paid the price in sweat and stress.

The Blackhawk looking copter that today circled my 25 plant little tiny personal use patch on the edge of my prop … sure makes me wonder wtf the cops r up to.

Within sight of me r a few multiple hoopy grows … copter flew right past those after taking a good look at my 25 outdoor plants.

Hey kym I think you should do a story on royal gold soil polluting in blue lake. Half of the “organic” growers use that crap, made from milled up sawdust and pollutants, obviously .
