Southern Humboldt County Technical Rescue

Last night, a man was found over a cliff dead in a rugged area of Panther Gap by a family member. Multiple agencies responded to the scene to recover his body.

Diana Totten, a spokesperson for Southern Humboldt County Technical Rescue Team, told us, “At approximately 10:20, we were called to a fall victim off a cliff in the Panther Gap area. Cal Fire, Redcrest Volunteer Fire, Eel River Valley Technical Rescue, and Southern Humboldt Technical Rescue responded. The first fire fighters on scene were able to determine he was deceased.”

Totten said that both the technical rescue teams were asked to continue into the area to bring the deceased man up the steep terrain. “We set up rope systems and were able to remove the body,” she explained. “We were able to bring him up the mountain up to where the coroner was.”

Totten said that evidence at the scene does not suggest foul play. However, the Sheriff’s Department is investigating.

My condolences and prayers are with the family, loved ones and friends. Thank you to the responders that risked their own lives last night to bring the deceased back up to the family. 🙏

I watched two girls and a guy fall off a cliff on Kodiak up in Alaska back in 2000. Sure was a helpless feeling standing there unable to render any aid what so ever, With help so far away. Sad experience. Prayers to those left standing by.

How uncouth can you be?What is wrong with people?I’m so sorry for the family…much respect and sympathy…if you’re going to be that stupid and insensitive why don’t you post your name so we can know who you are?

Because to some insensitive trolls , this site and LOCO are their playground and they find it funny to shock people. They experience a big yuk yuk to themselves. Cheap humor for sick minds. When they get called on it, they declare that people take things too seriously.
