Video provided by a reader.

A fire on North Bank Road between Arcata and McKinleyville shut down both lanes of traffic about 11:20 a.m.

UPDATE 11:24 a.m.: The Incident Commander is releasing some resources which is usually a good sign. However, the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page still shows both lanes shut down.

UPDATE 11:30 a.m.: Cal Fire tweeted that the forward spread of the fire had been stopped.

I don’t think people understand, as well as, chains dragging, or axles breaking ( tire coming off and poof), pulling over on to dry grass ( underneath the car is hot) and fire is the result.
