  • Oh no, haven’t we seen enough fire recently.

  • Hope everyones safe and ok !

  • Is that the spot emerald farms processes cat?

  • Man this is the second fire here ain’t it?

  • I’ve literally lost count of how many times something has been on fire at the Scotia mill in the last 3.5 years we have lived here. The bad ones have tainted our water supply so bad in the past it became a serious concern to the town residents. Hope all the new and soon-to-be home owners realize what they are really getting themselves into. That mill is ran, maintained and organized so carelessly and it effects the entire community. #scotialiving

    • Gosh, don’t you know — the RCEA keeps telling everyone that the Scotia plant makes the cleanest, greenest and most reliable electricity! That’s why the RCEA are paying HRC millions of dollars above wholesale market rates.

I wonder if the NCUAQMD includes the emissions from these accidental fires when calculating the 132 tons/year of fine particle pollution (the pollutant most closely linked with increased rates of illnesses and excess deaths) and the 105 tons annually of hazardous air pollutants that this plant puts out? Hmm … I suspect not.

    • a lot of the fires are caused from the power plant and the fuel they burn resting on the pipes that the steam goes through in the back. it runs behind the two bays where they store the fuel to burn. the back of the one bay there is a huge hole and it falls through that and over time it builds up against the pipe and if not cleaned it will catch fire.

  • You didn’t report the car fire at State Beach in Trinidad.

  • Why did someone think it was a good idea to have an office on top of what is essentially a super sized toaster ? Way to go ……. Or maybe I’m the only one who thinks that it could create an issue?

  • That’s soom expensive wood in that oven
