Are they gonna pave the whole thing this time, or just little patches like they did last time? What a waste of time that was. The whole road needs new pavement!

Hopefully the whole road.

To note, folks, if you want YOUR public road repaired, NOW is the time to ask.

Why?

Here’s what’s important to know– and say:

1. California voters just passed a large State gasoline excise tax measure kicking down monies to the counties for repairing road infrastructure. Humboldt is one of them. It’s a large pot of money they must use or lose.

2. Humboldt County is flush with Measure Z monies for public safety. Initially tagged for law enforcement, Humboldt County is looking for other ways to spend it. Roads are now considered part of public safety.

3. The fiscal year for the County and State started July 1. In other words, their budgets are most plentiful now.

Just so you have an idea that I do know what I’m talking about, I got our road paved for the first time after 30 years of neglect and miserable conditions, and after explaining the above.

Neighbors said I couldn’t get it done. I did, and it wasn’t that difficult. I didn’t have to take pictures, get neighbors together, sign petitions, or plead to the municipal folks. We got it paved without having to pay for it or having it assessed as a bond attached onto our property taxes. All it took was two phone calls.

When neighbors asked how I did it, I explained simply that the fiscal stars are aligned perfectly right now– and I simply asked and followed up.

You can do it too.
