Ships and Smoky Skies

Smoke from wildfires burning much of the western United States is covering the sky and dimming the Emerald Counties’ beauty…but photographers still find ways of catching their quiet charm.

Sandy Packer of Ferndale caught this eerily, quiet view at Woodley Island in Eureka last night on her iPhone.

What are you seeing in all this smoke?

Boats. Ships are bigger. The sun’s the right size though.

If there’s a boat onboard, its a ship.

Nice photo.

In Silicon Valley, we are getting some of the Humboldt smoke and some from Yosemite. The amount of forestland being lost is ridiculous. We need more firefighters and more planes and helicopters. Bring the troops home and have them fight fires.
