[UPDATE 8:58 a.m.] One Acre Fire off Sabertooth Road South of 299; ‘Structures in the Area’
A little before 6 this morning, firefighters rushed to a fire burning off of Sabertooth Road south of 299 midway between Blue Lake and Willow Creek. The first firefighter to reach the scene reported that there was approximately “an acre of grass, brush and timber burning.”
He also warned, “There are structures in the area.”
UPDATE 7:10 a.m.: The incident commander reports that the fire has doubled in size. “We still have a structure threat,” he said. However, the fire is moving slowly and he said that once a dozer is able to get working the incident, they should be able to control the fire. All the extra resources are requested to keep coming.
UPDATE 8:26 a.m.: The fire has been stopped at two acres.
UPDATE 8:58 a.m.: Fire personnel have updated the acreage of the fire to about 3.5 acres.

Where exactly is Sabertooth Road? Don’t recognize it and headed that way in an hour.
It’s off of Titlow hill forest service route 1 rd
Um, no it’s not.
Ok thank you for getting it right
Takes off south by the Redwood Creek Bridge.
And connects to route 1…
The er… ‘original’ road runs all the way from the east side of the Redwood Creek Bridge to Titlow Hill Road. At the top it is a private road… so it’s gated off.
Yes. Gated and that road running down is SaberTooth. Gates all the way down.
I can hear the equipment and chainsaws working the fire. Helicopter woke us up this a.m. evaluating the fire. Yes off Route 1
Sabertooth road connects from route 1 on titlow all the way to sabertooth road which turns up redwood creek after the Dan okain bridge. Fire is contained and getting mopped up. Thank you titlow hill volunteer fire crew you saved countless homes and people. Thanks calfire for support and Santa Barbara crew as well.
i believe it’s also called lower redwood valley rd.
Fire is out and in mop up stages now
So somebody must have known where it was.
