According to scanner traffic, a suspect waving a knife threatened a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy then fled into an RV on Allard Avenue. Scanner traffic indicates that the suspect also “implied” they had a firearm.

Well yes he is… That’s what happens when you wave a knife or point a gun at a Police Officer….

The police here in Eureka, are predominantly idiots. Under trained, low intelligence, inefficiently equipped and grossly absent of common sense.

You sound a bit but hurt. Cops throughout the State receive mandated training. Every cop gets it. Citizen reaction and compliance to directions is where the idiocy lies. Hence why I assume you are in such pain.

So you choose a picture of someone in a US Army uniform to spew hate about EPD? Get a life, or better yet, become a police officer and change the world! The Legend sucks!!

Wow- miracles happen constantly where 99.999999 percent of those arrested do not get shot . And this is despite dealing frequently with a segment of population with an average IQ 10% lower than average and the self restraint of a toddler.

Nothing like spew commenting on a story demonstrating the exact opposite of the point trying to be made for a reality check.

I have an idea…instead of blaming the police who are doing what they can to protect others, look at the idiots that are causing the problems. If you don’t want to be shot, don’t wave a gun or other weapon around. A gun is always loaded and you are never supposed to point a gun unless you are going to pull the trigger. That is enough reason for an officer to respond with shooting someone pointing a gun.

I remember when the sheriff was shot and killed through the door of an RV in the park where the Harley dealer is now.

Sheriff Cox as I recall.

Sheriff Gene Cox was off-duty when called to help a relative with a recalcitrant tenant. I believe the sheriff was shot through the door by the deranged perp who had just been released from a mental health institution. Cox was a big guy and mostly bled out all over. By all accounts a ghastly, tragic event. Every uniform within miles showed up and when the suspect resisted apprehension he got to do the jumpin’ -up-and-down dance as he was sprayed with lead. Just like in the “Godfather,” Good riddance. No hand-wringing over police procedures or mercy for the homicidal maniac. Not like today when somebody else like the police must be blamed for a perp’s bad choices.
