Tomorrow is International Overdose Awareness Day; HACHR Holding Event on Eureka Waterfront

Please join us, Humboldt Area Center for Harm Reduction (HACHR) this Thursday August 31 for International Overdose Awareness day in at Sacco Amphitheater in Eureka from 12-5. This is a time to remember those we have lost and learn about different tools we can use to prevent overdose in our Community.
We will have Speakers, Photo booth, food, Naloxone distribution, HIV/HCV testing and a remembrance wall.
Speakers are from 12:45-4:15.
We have brought speakers from all over California to come and speak to a range of evidence based topics. At 12:45 Kim Bergil will be kicking off the day for us by sharing why she supports Harm Reduction and the many tools that we use to create a more healthy community.At 1:00 Dr. Meredith William and Jorge Reyas will discuss their research and time touring safe consumption sites in the Netherlands.
At 2:15 SANE-Safer Alternative through Networking and Education will come speak about their 20+ years of work in Harm Reduction focusing on meth use. SANE is the largest and longest running syringe exchange in California.
At 3:30-Dr. Amanda Reiman from FlowKana and High Sobriety will come speak about her research of cannabis as an exit to opiates. Amanda is one of the leading researchers on this topic and worked tirelessly with the Drug Policy Alliance to pass prop 64.
We hope that you will join us for an afternoon to remember those we have lost and learn about how we as individuals and community can work to prevent overdose!

I wonder, with all the constant evidence that drug use is so dangerous and ugly, that so many people do it anyway. Do they believe that they will not be trapped or simply don’t care that they risk death until death is face to face with them?
I recommend you go down to Old Town and talk to some. I have even talked to the screaming woman, the thin one, the heavy set one with the trench coat has disappeared. long story short she screamed at me.
