Local Winery Earns Awards at the Mendocino County Fair
Press release from Briceland Wines:
For the second year running, each of Briceland Vineyards’ wines made from Mendocino grapes earned awards at the Mendocino County Fair Wine Competition. The Competition, Mendocino’s 39th Annual, took place Friday, August 4th at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds in Boonville. Briceland’s 2016 Spirit Canyon Vineyard Arneis earned Gold and their 2014 Dark Horse Vineyard Mendocino County Syrah and 2015 Dark Horse Vineyard Mendocino County Zinfandel earned Silvers in the competition. Last year, the previous vintages of the same wines earned Double Gold, Gold and Silver awards.
Earlier in the year, six of Briceland’s wines were awarded medals at the 2017 SF Chronicle Wine Competition including Silvers for 2015 Humboldt County Chardonnay, 2014 Humboldt County Alderpoint Vineyard Pinot Noir, 2015 Humboldt County Sauvignon Blanc and 2014 Humboldt County Ishi Pishi Ranch Zinfandel.
Briceland Vineyards was founded in 1985 as the first commercial winery in Southern Humboldt. The winery is widely credited with establishing commercial wine-growing in the area and helping to pioneer grape growing in what is now considered a rising Viticultural region. The winery is open for Summer Weekend Tasting Hours 1-5 on Saturday and Sunday through the end of August. Tastings are available by appointment year around. Each year Briceland holds 2 two-day tasting events at the winery during Memorial Day and Thanksgiving weekends as a way to thank loyal fans and share the fun with new friends.
Briceland’s wines are available in stores and at fine restaurants throughout Humboldt County, direct from the winery and can be shipped. For more information, to arrange a tour, case purchases, or to ship your order, contact the winery at 707-923-2429 or email [email protected].

Awsome,CHEERS🍷
That’s great to hear, I enjoy Andrew’s wines. We grow some great grapes around here, I think it might be the ag enterprise that gets us out of our slump in this county.
Thanks for posting, Kym. Growing grapes is challenging but rewarding. There is a
Serious potential for great wines to be produced here which will raise the price
of grapes. Keep in mind that most sites in humboldt are dry farmed or nearly so after the first 3 years.
Bravo!! One of the pioneers.
Seriously overpriced.
