Felon Arrested With a Firearm After High Speed Pursuit, Says Sheriff’s Office
This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On 8-12-2017 at around 4:24 PM, a Sheriff’s Office Deputy was traveling southbound on US Hwy 101 near Vista Point McKinleyville, when he observed a blue 2003 Ford Focus occupied by Conte Watson. Watson had a felony warrant for his arrest. The Sheriff’s Office Deputy followed Watson as he exited US Hwy 101 onto Airport Road in McKinleyville.
The Sheriff’s Office Deputy witnessed Watson driving recklessly, at which time; the deputy activated his emergency lights and siren to affect an enforcement traffic stop on the vehicle. The blue Ford Focus immediately accelerated, attempting to evade the deputy.
The deputy pursued the vehicle through McKinleyville, until the suspect’s vehicle collided with a residence near the 1800 block of Fischer Road, causing minor damage to the residence.
Watson was subsequently taken into custody without further incident. Watson was arrest for the following charges: Vehicle Code section 2800.2(a) “Evading a Peace Officer: Reckless Driving” (felony), Penal Code Section 29800(a)(1) “Felon in Possession of a Firearm” (Felony), Penal Code Section 30305(a)(1) “Felon in Possession of Ammunition” (Felony), and Penal Code Section 22210 “Possession of Billy Club” (Misdemeanor). Watson was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility without incident on the above listed charges.
This case is still under investigation at this time.
