[UPDATE 2:36 p.m.: Open] Hwy 299 Closed by Fire at Oregon Mt. Summit Near Weaverville

Hwy 299 is closed at the Oregon Mt. Summitt after a fire broke out alongside the major east west roadway. Traffic is being turned back, according to commenters on social media sites in Trinity County.

Caltrans District 2 tweeted about 1 p.m., “ALERT: TRI 299 Roadway CLOSE[D] at Oregon Mtn Summit due to vehicle and vegetation fire.”
UPDATE 1:30 p.m.: According to the CHP Traffic Information Page, the eastbound lane is blocked but westbound lane is open.
UPDATE 1:34 p.m.: The fire started with a Dodge pickup on fire.
UPDATE 2:36 p.m.: Caltrans District 2 tweeted about 2:30 p.m. that the road is now open
