On July 13, 2017 at approximately 2:10 am, Officers with the Fortuna Police Department responded to the 900 Block of Main Street for the report of a Burglary in Progress.

Upon Officers arrival on scene they observed signs of forced entry to the front door of the business. Officers heard movement to the rear of the business and as they went to check the back of the business a subject ran from the back of the business and got into a waiting vehicle in the 700 block of 9th Street.

The vehicle seen was a Black Dodge Charger last seen headed westbound on N Street.

Officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle and were unsuccessful.

A search of the inside of the business showed that several items had been moved but, due to the quick reporting by a citizen and the quick response by officers it is unknown if any items from the business were taken.

While Officers were processing the scene for evidence, a citizen called and stated that a Black Charger was parked in his driveway. Officers responded and confirmed that the vehicle was the same vehicle that was seen leaving the scene of the burglary.

The vehicle was towed and stored for evidence.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fortuna Police Department 707-725-7550 or leave an anonymous tip by calling WeTip at 1-800-78-CRIME.

  • So, I am guessing a stolen car? Otherwise, OOPS!

  • If you are going to do bad things, a black Dodge Charger is the way to go.

  • Michelle Steele

Damn thieves anyway. Lock them up and throw away the key. This has gotten way out of Control for everyone. Businesses, homes, cars there all under attack by thieves.. Humboldt County is not like it used to be back in my Day where you didn’t have to worrie about this kind of stuff. I am only 48 years old and have seen alot of changes and the crime go up. How sad that our world has come to this and our family’s are not safe anywhere around here anymore.. It Breaks My Heart

    • You can thank Pot for most of this BS

      • Not to say it doesn’t play a role in some instances but with this it has to do with the shitty laws put into effect last year with lesser sentences for non-violent offenses. This would be considered a non-violent offense and with robberies running rampant in Humboldt county don’t expect it to get any better until the laws change again.

  • Lettuce heads no doubt! Im sure they had a pitbull and a W.M.D in that car too.

    • Why are you using a Sock Puppet CHUMP??? You’re not fooling anyone!!! The only WMD around is YOU!!!

      • Haha I’m not him, well atleast I don’t think i am? Shit am I him? O man here we go again! No, no wait, I’m me, ya I’m me for sure, whew! That was a close one! Wait now I sound like him! O no! I never should have smoked that lettuce!

Not me at all grow child…

Ms.Kemp wouldn’t allow that and it’s extremely disrespectful to think she would.

Get some manners like the white hair people that did this before you were even on the planet, son.

Now it’s obvious this story has a connection to marijuana growing, tax evasion, or human trafficking-

Let’s hope the truth surfaces, because thieves are lame.

        • I don’t monitor what names folks’ use. But, I will say that in this case CHUMP and Guest appear to be two very different people.

          • kym, when a commenter is banned, is the ban based on that persons email addy?
if so, do they come back w/a diff email addy and moniker?

            • The ban is based on their name and IP address. They can easily change their name. Changing an IP is more difficult but can be done. I’m pretty sure that there are folks I’ve banned that have done that. Nonetheless, after a few times of being banned, they usually quit doing the behavior that led to being banned—it’s too much work.

        • Not dans fault, lettuce makes you paranoid.

          • Honeydew Bridge C.H.U.M.P.

            We see it here…

Also, one might assume lettuce addiction and bad manners go hand in hand, or maybe nose ring to nose ring in his case?

Let’s hope we see Dan’s case posted up here on the next 10,000 plant / dead fish in the dry creek story….

I bet he may have one.

            • Please, avoid personal attacks.

            • I know it and bad driving are connected for sure, maybe a combination of lettuce addiction and flat billed hats squeezing the last brain cells out of the addicts head, but it’s blatantly evident on our roads every day. Lettuce has many side effects that are not yet understood, impotence, psychosis, many others, did you know young hitler was an artist until he smoked lettuce? We all know how that ended.

  • It has nothing to do with pot. It’s there stupidness
