[UPDATE 1:25 p.m.] Plane Lands on Hwy 101 Near Ukiah

By Jetijones via Wikicommons

A blue and white plane landed on Hwy 101 near Ukiah’s Gobi Street onramp at approximately 11:36 a.m. The plane was undamaged and was able to be moved off Hwy 101. However, the outside southbound lane has been closed to allow emergency personnel to move freely. According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page, a male was out of the plane and sitting down about 11:37 a.m.

A portion of the highway fencing had to be removed to allow the plane to exit the freeway.

The Federal Aviation Authority has been contacted and N3583J is the tail number. The Cessna is registered to a Lee Barlow out of Fort Bragg.

I was actually waiting on the same runway 15 as he announced he was inbound for touch and go. 3/4 down there runway he announced he had an in flight emergency and asked me to clear the runway. I did clear the run way but he was too far away after hemanaged to turn 180. When he was I the ground he said he was ok and asked me to call chp.

Cool, man. I’m a grouchy curmudgeon, too. Who knows, maybe someone would want to know plane color if a loved one was flying that day. Just sayin’.
