Two Arrested at Trespass Grow; K-9 Bites One

Celcilio Bautista

Marcelino Bautista

This is a press release from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On 7/3/2017 Deputies with the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Marijuana Eradication Team (COMMET) responded to the 16000 Block of Powerhouse Road in Potter Valley in response to an earlier observation of several “trespass grow” marijuana gardens in that area. There were three property parcels involved, one a private citizen owned and the other two belonging to Pacific Gas and Electric. None of the land owners were involved in the marijuana cultivation.

Deputies entered the first garden and confronted a Hispanic male, later identified as Celcilio Bautista, working the garden and demanded he get on the ground. He refuse and ran. Sheriff’s K-9 “Doc” was deployed as the suspect was thought to be possibly armed with a firearm. The suspect attempted to divert the K-9 by spraying him in the face with a water hose. The attempt was unsuccessful and Doc was able to apprehend the suspect by biting his arm and holding him. The suspect then attempted to reach for a loaded .45 caliber handgun in his waistband but was unsuccessful and deputies were able to take him into custody. The handgun was later determined to have been stolen during a residential burglary in the Las Vegas Nevada area. Celcilio Bautista was later transported and treated for bite wounds at the Ukiah Valley Medical Center before being booked into the Mendocino County Jail.

Deputies then responded to the second garden where they confronted suspect Marcelino Bautista, Celcilio’s borther.

He too tried to flee but fell and hit his head on the ground. Doc was again deployed but did not bite this second suspect as he gave no more active resistance. Marcelino received a small injury to his head during the fall. He too was later treated at UVMC and then booked into the County Jail. At a small tent located in this second garden a loaded .44 caliber magnum revolver was located.

Deputies found each garden had a separate water diversion present, diverting water from a stream to man made ponds used to water the marijuana gardens. In the first garden deputies located and eradicated 1447 budding marijuana plants ranging in size from 2 to 4 feet in height. In the second garden deputies located and eradicated 3330 budding marijuana plants ranging in size from 2 to 4 feet in height.

Both men were booked into the Mendocino County Jail on the listed charges and are being held on $25000 bail.

  • Gonna be game over for all dope growers when the corporations take over. Humboldt will be a little poorer but a lot nicer.

    • Devils Lettuce Crimes

It is already game over. Just that most growers are in denial-still spending money on fancy dinners and such stupid things.. It will hit them like a ton of bricks in November. Expect lots of very bad behavior to follow. Humboldt will be A LOT poorer but in a few very rough years we will be rid of the departing greedrushers and we will have neutralized the left-behind tweakers, junkies and thieves. Expect a rough time for a bit and remember when it comes to your neighborhood- this is what you all encouraged and cheered on!

      • When you come down from your cloud please check into reality and take your belongings with you . Thank you for your stay on dreamers express 😉 . The markets are tougher than you think

      • Indeed. It will take time, but its the reason we legalized it. The ‘greedrushers’ will be gone soon, moved out by big corps or growers who are doing things legally by the book. If we embrace it, we need not become a dirt poor county. Quite the opposite.

Tweakers, junkies and thieves? Well, not sure where you are from or if you travel, but those people exist whether there are pot grows or not. Funny you dont mention drunks, as that is STILL the number one killer. But dont say anything, O.K.? People might get upset.

        • Yep remember alcohol is not a drug….jeeezzz. Lol. Um humboldt county is on the top 5 poorest counties in cali. Has been for a long time. Its only ” cash” rich. U think these legal mega grows are gonna spend there millions here, your wrong. Its yhe mom n pop grows n outlaws that support this county. Yep. Humboldt will be alot more broke.

    • Unless y’all put in the effort and incorporate yourselves, others will do it for you.

  • Just saying they probably do not have there papers.

    • You are correct. It was an unpermited grow, therefore no papers “there”

    • Rolling papers, maybe, but as for any legal documentation, Zip, Zilch, Nada, as in “Nada” damned thing even faintly resemble any legal documentation!!!

  • Maybe PG&E should branch out into a commercial grow operation.

  • Add additional charges for irrigating an illegal grow with Eel River Water in the Russian River drainage.

  • If they are illegal aliens should nt immigration deport. ,but they probably d id nt even check there status.mcso

  • The demand is too high. Legal weed will be so taxed and regulated the market will hold itself up.

  • $25K bail? 4777 plants, diverting water, and guns? I wonder what you have to do around here to get in real trouble?

    • cut down a redwood, annoy a spotted owl, fish in the river, store your used motor oil in a drum, one of those should do it.

    • Right. Tried to shoot police k9 with stolen gun! Trespass grow. They save the high bail amounts for the one who can afford it.

  • shawn the fisherman

Pretty ruff looking dudes. Hope the doggie didnt catch anything from them?

  • Good boy! You know why dogs eat crap? To get the taste of scumbag out of there mouths!

  • They are already on there way back to Mexico.

    • What’s your problem with people from Mexico? The Mexicans I know are hard working, church going family people who I would rather work next to more than most Americans, who have a very poor work ethic. Probably kind of like you?

      • You scold them for saying something about Mexicans, and yet you say Americans have a poor work ethic in the next sentence, that’s the same thing. Some humans are just lazy it doesn’t matter where you are from. It mutes your point and makes you sound like an ass.

        • That’s true, good point. But it is my observation from running crews of workers, that Mexican guys can work circles around your average American worker, with some exceptions of course. It annoys me when people pick on Mexicans…. they are good people. But you’re right, good and bad in all cultures. I do think American culture is going down the tubes in general, esp when we elect such an incompetent egomaniac to be our president. Just my opinion.

          • Well so Emily: are you going to go to bat for these *brothers*, bail them out, give them jobs and let them live in your house?

        • I think you mean “moot, not “mute”… but you are right.

      • It’s the leaching services.and not paying taxes let not forget when you enter the us illegal like then your just a criminal on the run. While they work next to you they get food stamps ect to support themselves just to send there money to Mexico untaxed. Watch the [edit] market on the Southside of eureka you will see them lined up to send

      • Uh there from Mexico and are shipping money back there ..theyre not spending money n our community that the fucking problem [edit]

The plant of peace & love making the news, yet again.

All these wholesome, peaceful people growing marijuana to heal the Earth and fellow man.

  • IF,they are here illegally;they should be fingerprinted and deported NO BAIL…
And if caught here again, for whatever reason , 3-5 years prison time. This is the only way. Otherwise they’ll BE BACK.

    • Honeydew Bridge C.H.U.M.P.

Or force them to build the wall, instead of jailing them.
Once the wall is completed just toss them over it and it’s a done deal.

      • If our country keeps going down the tubes they won’t want to come here, then we won’t need a wall, they will.

  • Emily I am a retired union rodbuster ironworker for 25 years. look it up before you degrade my work ethics .

    • I don’t know who you are, but I believe you. I usually don’t disagree with your comments, but I get a little hot when people pick on Our Mexican brothers, they are good hard working people, legal or not. It’s disgusting to me how our president and others like you will tear apart these guys who come here to support their family, and do a lot of the work that puts food on our tables. Work, that most American kids are too good to do. Wonder why so many American kids are on anti-depressants and such? Hmmm.. I wonder.

      • It is illegal and they don’t pay taxes. What the hell is wrong with you? Let me guess you work at Sun Valley?

Why can’t they come into the country the right way? Just like Americans are expected to if we want to move abroad?

When you get your identity stolen and it is proven to be Mexicans and they sell your info to 20 more of their friends, all because they are here illegally, you will certainly have a different viewpoint. Why don’t you move to Mexico? Sounds like you are an enabler of the problem.

        • Honeydew Bridge C.H.U.M.P.

Mexico doesn’t allow people to just show up there, in fact you need a tourist card to be away from the border.
They also have their military along their southern border.
Granted some decent people come here because of what mexico is and they want a better life-
Mexico knows this and wants the disgruntled to go north so they don’t revolt.
If we build a wall and sow minefields, Mexico will have a revolution in 5 years.

That’s funny. Watch what happens to the social security system when the billions paid in by illegals with fake SS #’s over the past few decades ceases. Didn’t know that? Can’t get a wage job without ID. If you’re illegal, you get a fake SS # and pay into a system you never get anything out of. But that little tidbit is glossed over. Read 8 U.S.C. and the INA and see if you can figure out the immigration system. It works, but it is also a full employment act for an awful lot of bureaucrats who do absolutely nothing for very high wages and federal benefits.

          • Honeydew Bridge C.H.U.M.P.

Go to a city and see plenty standing around Home Depot, or getting a 1099 they never file on.
As a drug dealer you should know these things!
The amount of check cashing joints in East LA should give you something to ponder…

          • More false and unsubstantiated assertions.
You don’t mention the billions in illegal aid and services they suck up, the crime, the traffic, the pollution, the water use….

        • You are going to feel differently when the price of food goes through the roof because these hardworking people are not here to pick it and be taken advantage of because they are illegal.

  • Sounds like Emily likes her cheap labor

    • Yes I do. What’s your point? Do you like your fruits and vegetables and chicken cut up for you and your hamburgers? Well who do you think did that work that you are too lazy and grossed out to do? You trumpers amaze me… it’s the economy that needs cheap labor. These guys are paying into tax system and social security, not getting anything for it to boot. And what happened to ‘caring for the least of thee’? Or maybe Christian principles don’t apply now that it’s trump-land. You love to pick on the hardworking Mexicans who mow your lawns and everything else. Disgraceful.

      • JustWantToHearTheEndoftheStory

Oh, Emily, you really drank the Kool Aid on illegal immigration, didn’t you. Probably don’t even allow the word illegal into the conversation. The phrase “You trumpers” tells us all we need to know about you and yours. Did you miss the part about the gun being stolen in Las Vegas? These aren’t the media friendly “hardworking family oriented” economic migrants. But don’t let reality intrude on your Arcata mindset, just have a nice day telling other people how to live their lives.

        • LMFAO, so who drank the kool-aid? Sounds like the EndoftheStory did. Remember this one End?

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. … They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people…”

Both leader and follower are total imbeciles. Trust me, if the Mexican is out competing you, then you failed at your education.

        • Yes illegal is pretty irrelevant to me. We all came here someway, whether it was illegal at the time of our relatives, who knows? That’s a pretty low bar in my mind. I’m not trying to defend these guys in particular, i just really dislike the bandwagon mentality of the Mexican haters on this site.

  • charles engebretson

No more money to cartels..diverting water..guns.these aren’t your honest field workers.A stolen gun from Vegas?.screw em..

  • Diesel DRW - Curb Weight 7762 lbs

That dog is a genuine hero! Yay for the brave folks in the HCSD!

  • It always makes me laugh when people blame any foreigners coming here to work but not the giant fruit and nut companies hiring and paying them.

  • Good job on the sheriffs department. We don’t need these Mexicans weaseling into our livelihood…

  • They look like your average Mexican who was kidnapped from south of the boarder for forced labor.
