One Man Arrested After Attempting Two Gas Station Holdups (The Second Succeeded)

This is a press release from the Eureka Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

Hilsendager, MarkOn June 29, 2017, at about 4:56 a.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to a gas station on the 1000 block of Broadway for the report of an attempted robbery. The suspect said he had a gun and demanded money from the register. The employee refused and the suspect was seen leaving in a gray Dodge Magnum. The suspect was described as a white male in his 60’s, thin, gray beard, and wearing a black Carhartt jacket.

At about 5:15 a.m., a man matching the suspect description entered a gas station on the 2100 block of 4th Street, claimed to have a gun and demanded money from the register. The cashier complied and the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers responded and checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

During the course of the investigation, a detective identified the suspect as 57 year old Eureka resident, Mark Hilsendager. On June 30, 2017, at about 9:20 a.m., Hilsendager’s Dodge Magnum was located in a parking lot on the 2700 block of Dolbeer Street. Hilsendager was inside the vehicle and taken into custody without further incident. Hilsendager was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked for robbery.

I’ve seen this guy while I was working Security at some of the Service Stations a few years back. Finally decided to get his fix, smokes and alcohol a easy way????? No brains, no pain.
